hdmi cable types

The hdmi port on my tv is one size and the hdmi port on my computer is another.

the ports are larger on my tv than my pc

but when i try to find a cable they are all the same size ends,

Can anyone explain things to me, i cant seeem to find cables in the smaller size.

is one of my appliances out of date, or diff technology?like vhs/betamax

Are you sure they are both HDMI ports?
There is a mini HDMI port but ive only ever seen it on cameras etc and its quite new.

You could be getting HDMI confused with Displayport. They are quite similar:

Displayport comes on alot of newer graphics cards.

They look both like normal HDMI ports!
The one on the laptop looks a little bent, or is it just the camera?

its not bent its just the camera angle.

they are different sizes i have measured them with a caliper, a shhort while ago, but i cant find my calipers now so unsure of measurments.

 

well you pointed me in the right direction, but after recent cable purchases i know maplin are expensive.

 

so i just found my calipers, erm i may have measured wrong last time! they both apera to be 14 wide as in diagram above

 

didn't think they looked different, would be odd!

just buy a cheapo cable, no need for an expensive one...
