hdmi cable types

    Well there are cheap HDMI cables, and there are really cheap HDMI cables!
    I wouldn't go for one under 15 TBH...

    so next stupid question!


    Can i just run an hdmi like anyother cable, or does it need to be unkinked etc or am i confusing opical with hdmi?

    As far as i'm aware they don't mind being kinked, any more than any other cable. You wouldn't want to needlessly stress it though. As with any connecting cables, buy the shortest one that will do the job.

    like any other cable, it has no bearing on working with my ps3 and its a mess behind my tv:lol:

    Further to the optical question...

    "When a fiber cable is bent too sharply,
    the optical signal within the cable may
    reflect or refract internally or it may literally
    fail to make the turn, escaping through the
    fiber cladding. Bending can also induce
    micro cracking, causing permanent physical
    damage to the individual fibers that
    make up the cable, especially as it is pulled
    during installation."

    I think I paid about three quid for my hdmi cable off egay and the picture is no different to all these gold plated 'high quality' cables that cost a small fortune, I did spend a bit more on some decent aux leads to go from the tele to my surround and it did make a big difference to the sound quality compared to the cheap things I was using before
