My brother ( BOB 79 ) recently bought a MK3 Golf GTI, dragon green, and it came with a set of these - Genuine Hella twin headlights, all original lenses, and not a mark on them tbh. Just out of curiosity, are these quite sort after. And how much would they be worth. Im a MK2 man so havent got a clue myself. Hoping you MK3 boys can give me some ideas Cheers
Votex twin heads are more sought after! Take a look at this thread: http://www.clubgti.com/forum/showthread.php?t=218670
So im guessing these are plentyful amongst MK3's then? Ive only ever seen a few with them. It also has the rear Hella clusters and side repeaters to match to.
Tell your brother to keep them as they give a far better light output than standard lights. I've had them on my Mk3 for years, and can actually see where I'm going when driving at night! Just tell him to look after them though, as the only spares you can get are the inner lamps, afaik. If he does want to sell them then they are worth alot more than 50, try more like 90-120 on Ebay.
I'm after a set of twin headlamps when I get my VR on friday. Do Borbet still do twin lamps for the mk3?
i aint gonna sell them. But i was thinking of spraying them green, try and loose them. I think they stand out to much.
I've always known them as Morettes. The ones on the dark MK3 in that link look very similar to the Votex ones too...
I'd keep them as they are Rob. Goes with the black plastic on the bumpers and the smoked front fogs & indicators
I was mixing up my wheels with my lights, you are right, they were morettes.... what sort of money do they fetch nowadays??
I have no idea, the MK3 looks bad enough without sticking something that would look at home on a 90's Mondeo on them.
The Votex/Morettes are cool OEM+, and endorsed by VW Motorsport. Everything else is playing second fiddle.
Matter of opinion, I've always thought they look dreadful [] I would maintain this opinion even if they were endorsed by god himself
