for the brake lines, i'd just buy braided hoses - do the whole job at once and do it right.

the bolt- doesn't it just loosen a little then pull out? or try holding the other side with mole grips.

Pull sideways on the ball joint whilst you undo the nut, if you cant get mole grips on. :)

    Nice FK's btw. ;)

On one of the brake lines, the nut just wont undo!
3 of us have tried undoing it and it wont budge!

We've ended up just rounding it off!
Can someone tell me exactly the part name so I can go and buy a new one tomorrow!
I know its a brake line... but is it called something more?

Actually, to save me doing another pic....

metal pipe is just brake pipe, probably 5/16".
some garages should be able to make you up some lines if you take those with you.

i bought rolls o pipe and cutting/flaring tools n stuff but it wouldn't be worth your while doing that for that little bit.
you will need new pipes as you can't remove the unions from the pipe- the union is put on then the pipe is flared.

they're not expensive. couple o quid for pipes. garage will put unions on them for you.

You dont need the metal pipes, you just fit the hoses into the callipers directly - did it on mine, its the best way.

The impression I get is that u can't get these parts from VW????
Wud rather do that than go about searching for someone to make it

On the other hand, if the pipes go straight into the caliper, i'll do that!
I'm buying mk3 GTi braided hoses.
They shud go into the G60 calipers???

My options for hoses are GTi or VR6!
    Guessing either ones will work..

You can get these parts from VW, but they will just make them up as its a standard small brake line.

It serves no real purpose, it isnt required. The GTI 6 line kit will fit straight into the calipers no porblem.

Jus forget the pipe was ever there

EDIT- oh, one final thing, make sure to get the GTi ones as they will be the right ones for the 16v/G60/280 vr6 callipers, the VR6 may be different if they are for the 288mm callipers

    Hope so!

    Unbolt current rear beam
    bolt new one on
    link up new hand brake
adjust compensate valve (not sure how to?)
fit braided hoses from copper piping to caliper
fit mk2 16v rear disks to retain 4 stud bolt pattern
    new rear bearings

    erm... that it?

    obviously more complex than that..
    but thats the basics?

Cool. thats what I thnk i'll do!
Have to get a dry day for that!

How do you adjust the compensate valve?

Is it like a pressure valve?
If so, how do you know where the best setting is?
dont really want to find out the hard way of locking up on a corner!

it's just a little slider. loosen the nut, slide it up or down, tighten again. can't remember which way is which, but it's a 2 second job....
