Wrong - they aint too wide - plenty MK3's run 205 tyres.

However the offset if wrong, golfs should be et35, so you will need at least a 7mm spacer.

How about puttin them on and doin a wee bit of measuring etc to actually see what you need to do. Its not rocket science!!

Being close to the lip is surely not a problem, so long as they don't touch. It's nothing to do with them being 17's, and the fact they fit on a corsa is nothing to be proud of!!

Thats cos you are fitting Vauxhall offset (et42) wheels on a VW (et35)

GET THE RIGHT OFFSET AND THEY'LL GO ON!!!!!!

They look like multi-fitment wheels too,so the off set may not be right.you need to space them out a bit.

correct :) coilovers would help in gaining some room also.

Actually, coilovers ouwl make the problem worse, as the coilover body is thicker than the regular shock body and would reduce clearance further :)

As Andy says, its simple stuff. If I were you, I'd change the wheels while you were at it. ;)

    Moving.............

    nice axle stand ;)

have you checked that the centre bore is correct for a vw. i know vauxhalls are close, but its quite critical as vw's are hubcentric (the wheel nuts share the load with the hub/centre bore). check thats correct or you could theoretially have the wheel nuts snap.

if thats ok, then get some spacers, but they need to be designed for the car if they're over 3mm (the whole hubcentric thing again).

sorry im not making myself clear here i own a corsa too and when i was fitting the KAHN 17s to it it was a easier job than fitting the LENSOS 17s to the golf i have not tried to put the wheels onto each car or vice versa

also when i bought the wheels i was told a 42 offset would be better than a 35 offset as they would foul on the outer arch
