Hmmm, just recorded a VHS to DVD, Put the DVD in the PC and it can't see anything...

    VHS will be standard def TV, so 576 lines of pixels. No point in encoding it any higher than that (720/1080 HD). Unless it's one of the US formats, in which case it will only be 480 pixels.

    Thanks Alex. I'll check back to my understanding of how 576 relates to 480p.

    The output of the avi file after recording any content on DVD is 704x576 anway so just encode it to 720 and it'll come out as good as it can for youtube
