also if its ok by the co op, it is in no way considered theft, i did ask the lady in the police station several times and it is NOT theft

Is that because there is no current registered keeping on the DVLA computer or because legally the ownership of the vehicle has transferred to the co-op where it has been on their property for so long??

i had it all explained to me

the last owner of the car had it transfered to whoever, the last owner then sent his bit of paper off saying that he no longer owns it, however it was never re-registered after that, thus it has no current keeper

and as its been left on private land and has no owner as far as anyone is concerned it belongs to the co op, so there we go

theres also a maestro thats been in the same car park for 3 years i could have

    i'd take both!!!

Have you any idea how long the MK2 been sitting in the carpark for?? (you've probable already said and i missed it, cant be bothered to re-read this thread again ;) )

The only reason why i asked is because there are a few cars bumped in the carpark for the block of flats near me, nothing great. Audi 80, couple of fiesta's and a Fiat Panda last time i looked. I was thinking about trying to have something away that is in there if i can....... legally ofcourse  ;)

Jolfa I'd keep a very close eye on it coz the Co-op manager might get ideas and sell it for scrap or something.

To do it properly, I suppose you could remove the steering column trim and then drill a pilot hole into the ignition barrel / column bearing housing so that the ignition barrel can be slid out and replaced with one you have the key for?

Don't dick about with the steering lock - undo the bottom UJ joint bolt on your own car, then pull out he whole column with wheel and all. Do the same to the other car and replace the steering column with yours. Takes about 5 minutes to do it, and then you can get it home without buggering any stering locks.
