Hi this is a sado question about how fast will my car be it was just wondering me. I have a 1.6 driver with the webber carb gti cam a-spec tsr head and gti manifold no exhaust as of yet magnecor plug leads and lightened flywheel the block has covered 64k that’s the hp bit and now for the how light will my car be ive removed the sun roof all seat belts fitting harnesses keeping rear seats but changing fronts to buckets think there about the same weight removed all the sound proofing and radio and speakers and central locking and other small bits and bobs. im hoping for around 880kg.
Bout 95-100bhp, not sure on weight without more details on the car but 880kg is a pretty stripped 3dr golf so maybe closer to a tonne.
This will decimate all AFTER you put about fifteen grand in it or more, and if we have to, overnight parts from Japan
two jay zee? no sh**!! (whilst lifting the bonnet to reveal a 3.0 non turbot) the non turbot is a 2jz in any case, but its not an OH WOW engine
A question.....Why are you spending soo much on a 1600 driver? Just interested as some of the parts you have quoted are not cheap mods. Gurds
I had the cam and carb already and the head I got cheep the flywheel I can move on and planning on staying 8v so exhaust is ok. I thought you lot would take the **** but not that much. Ive bin doing it so I can have a go in road rallying and sprints and maybe single venue events and ive bin told that theres less competition in the 1.6 class in that style of events. I had a 1.6 driver with just carb and cam and it was pretty nippy even with a 4+E box so just hoping it should be better than that
How "fast" can depend on so many things. Gearing, response/power delivery are just as important as pure numbers. A 1600 can go well with a bit of tweeking where there are class limitations to consider.
Good on you. I can appreciate where you are coming from with regard to the 1.6 engine size and motorsport classes. I did much the same in my rallycar. http://www.clubgti.com/forum/showthread.php?t=229748 If you can source a box with GTI gear ratios and 3.9 or 4.25 final drive, along with a little engine tuning work, the thing will be quick enough to have a lot of fun in.
I got a spare 1.6gti box banging around with a 3.89 final drive but it's miles to come just for a box.
