In my golf I had: Digital designs 9115 sub (replaced by MB quart Premium ref range 12" sub) Cadence A7-HC amp (monoblock class D monster, 1x1200w rms @ 1 ohm) Alpine 4ch comp amp (weak point of system) MB Quart RSD216 fronts (replaced by Focal 6 1/2 inch K2P fronts) MB Quart DSD216 rear Pioneer 9000 series headunit Pioneer 6cd changer and only mbh69 would know what half of that stuff is (the DD sub and Cadence amp anyways.....) Speed gives me a bigger smile on my face now though! (and also more of a chance of dramatically reducing my life expectancy)
Well, you clearly have an interest in it. Most people dont, and as a result any difference is negligible (if noticeable at all) to the casual listener. What on earth is the point in having a car if you have to think about where you park it ? Or put off going somewhere in case you might have to leave your car unattended ? As for the alarm being a distraction. If a thief/pikey wants you stereo, a loud noise wont put him off. Nor will it attract anyones attention, as nobody gives a sh*t if an alarm goes off. Theres one where I live that goes off regularly, and nobody gives a monkeys chuff. Its an annoyance.
DD subs are awesome as for parking i'd park somewhere sensible whether i had a big system or not and alarms can mean the difference between your car or the next car being broken into also alarms are there to stop your car being driven away not just broken into and i know that unless the theif had a decent amount of time to get at my system they wouldn't be able to take much the only way for them to get at it would be to take the whole car which i think they would need a low loader to do as for the difference it's easy to tell the difference between say a vibe sub and an jl sub the type of bass it produces is completely different even to an amatuer you get tight controlled bass with one and the other is more loud and boomy noise than decent bass
Most people wouldnt even know what you were talking about, much less be able to tell the difference. You have an interest, but the majority of people dont. Most people hear bass, and thats it.
Yes ... but it is possible to generalise is it not ? Most people wouldnt know one sort of bass from another. So you saying that anyone `even an amateur` could tell is piffle.
KVT-M700 Head Unit w/10 disc changer Kenwood KEC-302 Crossover 2x Vibe VP4 amps (worst things I ever bought, gave me nothing but hassle) 4x Audiobahn AW1200Q Audiobahn ABC600 componemts Some crappy 6x9s Kicker 635i Amp Audiobahn Pro RCA Interconnects PS2 Exide Maxxima 900DC x2, one for car one for audio. Way too much cable, 2guage from front to back. Car completely covered in brownbread deadening. Wall straight behind front seats. All sorts of stupid other bits that soon add up. I quickly got bored though and never really got it finished off to a standard I would be happy with, sold some of the stuff on and kept the rest, still got 2 of the subs and the screen for future use when I get my bottom into gear and build my mk2 VR.
We are posting in the ICE section of this forum and most people are into quality bass and can tell the difference between a x-plod and a RE sub..
Yes, quite. But he said anyone could tell the difference. Which is complete balls. I can think of several people I know who wouldnt be able to tell one from the other.
it isn't that difficult to hear the difference bet most amatuers could tell the difference it's very obvious if you listen to the same track back to back on them both mr purple you could of had an awesome system there if you'd got some info on building a wall
Firstly, for the sake of my sanity, could you please at least try punctuation ? Secondly, once again, why do you not understand that you can hear the difference as you know what you are listening for. Most people with no interest in car audio couldnt tell any difference. Bass is bass to them. I`d willingly prove this point to you, like I said I can think of several people who would adequately back up my claim. They may well `hear` a difference if you told them there was one, but if you just let them loose without telling them there were two different systems they wouldnt have the foggiest.
i'm sure they could tell which sounded better quite easily it's like putting a decent sub in a poorly built box
NO THEY WOULDNT ! For the last time, I can think of three people at least that I know, who wouldnt be able to tell any difference unless you pointed it out to them in the first place. Just accept the fact that not everyone has an `acoustic` f*cking ear will you ? Yes, you can tell the difference ... but not everyone is you, are they ? And anyway, what you think sounds better might not be to everyones taste. You say sub X is `better` than sub Y, but someone else might think the opposite. As with cars, taste in music and the way its presented is very, very subjective. Edited by: superden
I got my Genesis series III 5ch amp and 12" JL Audio sub still sitting in my wardrobe awaiting fitting* *and have been for about 2 years
ffs den, if you're really into music you can tell.. if you dont give, you wont. i've spent about 450 on my sounds - but its worth (was anyway) about 1.5k.. 2nd hand now i think i'd get about 300 for it all
I never said otherwise. But mbh69 did, his opinion was that anyone can tell, which is complete piffle.
the parameters of a sub show which ones are better yes people may prefer certain makes but say your looking for a good streetbass sub then you'd look at the rms wattage (nowadays doesn't mean much) xmax
