box with a removable port (low tune for daily driving, tuned at the cars peak for burps)

You want an unbiased view on the subject of car audio ...

... so you post on a car audio forum.

    Priceless.

One quote from your forum ...

I never said they couldnt form an opinion. But they wouldnt waste their time doing so. Why would you waste time and effort weighing up the facts to come to a conclusion on a subject you have absolutely no interest in ? Does bass_junkie83 spend his time forming opinions on matters he has no interest in ? No, I dare say he doesnt.

The people I have in mind may, if they sat there long enough, be able to hear some vague difference in the sounds of the two subs and form this `oh so important` opinion. But they certainly wouldnt be able to say which was the `better` of the two. Although as which is better is a completely subjective matter, nobody really can anyway. The people on that forum are the same as you, they have an interest in all things audio and as a result find it very difficult to understand/comprehend (as does anyone with a major interest in something) that others cant appreciate their interests. Its usually then that they get start to become rather defensive over their little hobby, as is evident on your forum.

    :)

Ah, `audiophile` snobbery, you cant beat it ... I wonder if you can get oak green subs ?

In my Mk2 I have a 2nd hand 40 Cd player with the two lil standard speakers on the dash.

Mk1 is being treated to a nice system. Alpine head unit, Crystal Components, Image Dynamics 10" sub. 2 Kenwood amps.

Everything at cost price so it's all good.

I like to go fast more than anything, but you can't beat playing your fav tracks on a good system on a nice summers day.

I have to agree with MBH on this one actually, there must be something wrong if you cant tell the difference between 2 different subwoofers, most if not all have a different sound.

Oh, so far my audio has cost me not much [:D]

    Vibe Vp2 - Free
    Vibe SEK-60 - 50
    Phoenix Gold r15.0:1 - 300
    2x BBG 15" PG subs - 30 quid each
Alpine HU - 90 (after something with an aux in, JVC probably)
And i've just purchased some Old skool PG Zeropoint mids with sapphire xovers, and am in the process of getting the PG ZX600.2ti and a Solid audio F15D, plus an RESX15"

P.s i heard mention of a cadence amp [l] and also DD subs [l] [l]

Still might go with the DD9515 instead of the SX

recone a 9515? Anything is possible although that is pretty unlikely.

The construction and design of a DD 9000 series (9000/9100/9500) sub is unlike anything I have seen before. I ran my 9115 hard, putting through about 1kw RMS from the cadence, and it never missed a beat. You could put 2kw rms through a 9515 without any trouble!

I realise when competing you are pushing the limits so there's a higher chance of toasting coils etc..., but DD do send out cone/coil kits (for fairly cheap also) so you could get a UK firm to actually do the work.
