Jeez, did you check your neck for fang marks after you got up? lol amazing pics, never seen one up close before, just shadows in the dark above the playing fields up the road.
I never thought to check my neck lol It was a treat to be able to get that close and photograph one, I had them in the house before but usually they make it out pretty quickly. I tried taking some pics of it in flight, low light meant a slowish shutter speed, these bats move damn quick! All the flight pics were blurred, shame.
I saw a few Emu's today but left my phone on my desk (so on pics) I will see if they are there again tomorrow
We have a family of squirrels in the tree at the top of the drive. There's always one who comes tapping on the glass looking for nuts...! lol
In the past week I have had in my garden a horse, deer, rabbits, green woodpecker and next doors catlol Yet to get a picture of the deer, soon though!
We have geckos in the house that manage our insect problems, magpies that demand a feed morning and evening, bush turkeys that dig up the garden, possums of various types, red frilled lizards, goannas and once saw a horny koala chasing down his shag. Lets not forget our beloved cane toad, brown snakes, green snakes, cockatoos and millions of fruit bats that devour mangos and throw them in the pool. These have all been spotted within my small inner city block home, it's amazing, I was put off when I first moved to Brisbane but it soon became a marvel to me and I love it. For any travelers coming over for the rainy season and roughing it in parks etc, Detol Antiseptic is the only substance I know of that will kill a cane toad without a lot physical exertion.
It's legal anywhere in the UK to shoot grey squirrels...classed as vermin. You can't just go around popping them off, but if you find one weak or injured your not supposed to help/treat them.
Here's how you deal with those American grey B**tards :
