did the mechanic check the timing at 2.25k rpm with the blue sensor disconnected? I'll bet he didnt which is why he thought the timing was out ;)

im guessing he didnt lol im gonna print the how to off and show him it..
the car seems a little better today but still not right i cleaned all the dizzy out and checked all the leads again and one of em was a bit dodgy so i did a bodge job on it for now then i put a couple o pints of water through the breather pipe while my mate revved the engine for me, its seems alot better now i noticed a big difference after putting the water through and it seems to be running ok but i wont know properly til i get out in it properly as i just gave it a blast round the block..
before i cleaned the dizzy and did the water trick it was running crap at low revs there is no power at all until i get the revs right up and flog the crap out of it thats the only time it would run half decent i checked all the breather pipes etc and had a look round the engine bay for loose wires etc but all seems good so im a little baffled as to whats going on..
ill update tomorrow when i have a decent run out in it, fingers crossed [:s]

right the car is running better when cold its rather quick actually, anyway once its warmed up it runs like a bag o crap no power or throttle response it almost stalls when trying to set off theres hardly any power at all but just when its hot i dont get it.. i have a new ISV to put on to see if that will settle the idle down but until then does anyone have any idea what would make my car run rubbish once its hot [:s]
    cheers everyone

i'd change the blue coolant temp sensor , they cause all manner of running and starting issues when they go duff , not that expensive from the stealers either .

was it a genuine vag one?
id go with a problem elsewhere though since it only happened after you started messing with it! Have you put new leads on it yet?

the blue temp sensor was from VW, genune part, i aint had chance to put leads on it yet a lack of cash is the problem at the moment is it worth just putting some cheepo ones on for now as a tester ?
