Went to start the golf today and nothing, didnt want to turn over at all. The starter motor made its usual harsh noise on the 1st attempt then it refused to fire up, now it dosnt even make an effort. Its been sitting since last Tuesday as I got a company car last week and prefer the comforts of a modern car in this weather. So im basically p***** off with it and would consider selling it now to help fund a mew car. I want something RWD and preferably with a turbo. A friend has a S14 Nissan 200 but I dont want to just copy him. Supra's and Skylines would drink too much fuel and older M3's dont really appeal to me. What else is there out there that is Turbo'd and RWD?
i have a rare 1 of 3 supercharged mgf coming in at the end of the week. 210bhp and rear wheel drive supercharged lotus elise ect
mr2 200sx baby s13 - cheap and retro cool s14a - angry lookin mo fo really tunable tail happy cars. im gettin one when im back, cant wait tbh
I'd go for a R32 Skyline GTS-T 2liter straight six about 230bhp and VERY easy to get 300bhp out of Or go for the R33 GTS-T 2.5 275bhp but alot more to buy and worse on the fuel But anything with a turbo will drink fuel normaly [:^(] Edited by: Mr.LaZy
It for people that are able to see past a badge and appreciate a mega quick understated car, it'l do 0-60 in 5secs and a top speed of 150mph so put your handbags away It was also developed by turbo technics so its not a bodge job, more importantly it wasnt tuned by mg rover Edited by: N1CK
Is it still running a K series lump though Nick? Wouldnt touch with a barge pole if so as they are absoloute sh*te and yould be lucky to see 40k out of it without needing the head gasket doing.
I remember following a 200SX up the A82 onto the access road to the Glencoe Ski Resort one winter in heavy snow, the guy spent most of his time on on the wrong side of the road going sideways, every time he touched the throttle he lit the tyres up and started sliding around, when we got into the car park I had a chat with him, the 200SX was an auto and he thought he was going to die all the way up the road Alan Edited by: G40 AL
it runs a 1.8 vvc k-series although its had a triple layer steel headgasket with steel dowels fitted. The steel hg will last for ever (if its correctly and accuratly fitted that is!) the k-series is actually a very good engine, just a shame about the cooling issues as its very lite and revvy.
I'd bloody love a late RX-7 in black if it wern't for the 15mpg and fast and furious image they've picked up. (and the fact that I can't afford one) Standard RX-7's are as hard as steel.
if the engine doesn't fall apart, no matter who built it, the K series is not a good base, the car will fall apart as the build quality on them is as shocking as the engine in the rear. two of my previous managers have got a mk1 and mk2 of the MGF respectively. very dull to drive and not that quick, was disappointed by them both, thought it would have the legs on my GTi but no
well, you know what i'm gonna say don't you? yep, mr2 tubby, heres a pic of my mates... ...very easy to get silly power out of. Edited by: acf8181
A freind of mine imports Jap cars for a living and imported a whole load of RX7's and we can both admit to it being possibly the worts car ever produced. All it has going for it is looks and speed (speed sometimes). Incredibly unrealiable, horrendous build quality that is worse than any french car ive ever been in. They rattle and squeak like you wouldnt beleive. Inside get incredibly hot due to poorly insulated engine bays. They only really seat people under about 5ft 10. The interior not only sqeakes but marks very easily to. If your very lucky you'll get 50K out of them before needing a full engine rebuilt (rotor tips wear out) to the tune of 2.5k. They truely are complete rubbish, id rather own a Lada Riva! If i was in your boat id buy an MR2 turbo and for that money youd get a descent Rev3. I sold two last year and they were cracking very quick cars.
