unfortunately, the ambassadors for countries in this day and age seem to be football fans. and the english football hooligan with a skinhead and union flag shorts seems to do a pretty good job of destroying england's reputation abroad... not to mention Tony Blair and the iraq war - just look at Eurovision results for last 2 years

 

not liking a person because of their nationality or taring a whole nation under the same brush is extremely sad. people are individuals and should be treated as individuals, regardless of where they're from. i hate all the divides, it's pathetic

my official stance on the subject, and i will not be drawn further into this arguement :

i do not hate the english. i hate frank skinner, tim henman, david beckham etc not coz they're english, but just because they're pricks in general that happen to be english

abroad, england has a very bad name because of the strereo typical football hooligan. as a scot, i'm neutral and so residents of the countries i've been in tell me what they think of the english- of course they're stereotyping but that's what people do. i find i get treated much better abroad once i say i'm from scotland.

think football hooligans, think english football - AFAIK no other country has as big a problem with football hooligans - and it's these people going abroad to other countries and making an arse of themselves that causes these steoeoytpes.
