I passed my test friday and I'm struggling to find anyone that can insure me for a reasonable price.

Ive tried the usual comparison sites etc and getting 2.5-3k+ for a year. Flux wanted 3k

    Car is a 1989 Golf 1.3
    No mods

    Im 19
Full UK License w/ Pass plus

I had a look at greenlight as they offer discount to club members but as far as I can see they wont insure anyone under 21.

Bell are the cheapest so far.

I'm trying to gather a list of recommended insures that either do classic or good prices for young drivers.

I have the following to try:
    Brentacre
    HIC
    Footman james.

Comparison sites always come out more expensive than going direct, I'm looking for specialist insurers that can give me discounts for drving a classic vehicle, being a member of an owners club etc.

Good luck mate its a mare when you have just passed, footman james gave me a good quote for a classic a few years go got to be worth a try.

when i was a younger man my insurance went down when i added the girlfiend, bizz\are, i have read that sometimes adding the folks can reduce your premium, dont get it in their name though you need your own no claims for the day you buy something with a bit of poke

there was a company I used when I was younger who were much cheaper than everyone else, would have to be standard though I think.

I want to say they were called ecar something or other but can't remember, would recognise their website if I saw it though, let me go search about...

Endsleigh were always cheapest when I was 19/20 (21 years ago). They even insured my Mini Marcos at 21.

I agree, I think I used them. Them or Compare the Market and got a good deal. I was surprised as one quote was much lower than the others I had received. Ended up with ibuyeco, anyone else on them?

    Happy so far.

Budget insurance were the cheapest for me. Unfortunately I have tinted windows on my car and this took it up a bit (unsure why).

Best way to reduce the premium is Don't try and insure an old car.

You'll get a miles cheaper quote with a modern car. insurers load the premiums on old car doe the higher risk they pose of a mechanical failure.
