mines attached to the bumper iron its self,

This is the clearance behind the rad,

so I am sure you could do the same set up as me, and then rather than going into the inlet on the right, pass in front of it and then do a 180 into it? not ideal but could be worse, atleast its a smooth corner.

a crude drawing showing how mine is done:

as you can see the bumpers been shaved from the back to make it fit, but this does give it a sealed air flow, meaning air HAS to go through it!

I will see if I can find the others, they are somewhere but dont appear to be on my photobucket.

the only other bit that needs cutting is the very bottom of the front pannel, which needs the bottom of the V bending out of the way for the cooler, but the pannels fine with out this and you can not tell.

I will prob have the front off again in the spring so if you havent done it by then I will get better pics

    ^^^ Cheers for the pics.

Really like the look of this and its definitely the route i'll be taking.

Cant believe how much clearance there is between the rad and the engine. Makes all the difference having the IC located down. Perfect for airflow

I think i'll order the eBAY IC i posted above this week. Im stripping the MK2's 8v out in the coming weeks so it'll be good to get the IC mounted up.

Anyone know of a good place to buy the piping from ?

Would one of those Mk4 kits be any good, or is it worth buying everything seperately ?

For your hose peak to derby peformace hose, that's who has done all mine for both cars very impressed with price and quality, my bends have longer straights on them so I could ditch a coupler.

This is the cooler I purchased for mine. AMK 20v.

Plan to do what M7R has done in my Mk2 also. Much better place for an intercooler to be rather then behind the rad.

Have people putting these coolers in MK2's just used the standard universal intercooler piping kits off ebay with joins etc or gone another route? How is the quality of the piping?

work out exactly what you need, that way you arent buying whats not needed.

Use as much solid pipe as you can too, flexable hose takes a little longer to fill than a solid pipe which will give a smidge more lag, and try and keep the pipe run as sort as poss, and with the least amount of sharp turns.

Been working out what cooler pipe to go for over the weekend.

Was thinking, will it be easier buying straight cuts of piping.
And where you need a bend just use a 90 degree silicone hose joint, instead of using piping with bends, like the ready kits for the Mk4 ect you can buy ?

You will need some straight silicone too for couplers and to go down the side of the rad as space is limited, so a squishy hose makes it easier,

Work out what you need and speak to derby peformance hose as their hose is thicker than the ebay stuff, plus they can make elbows with longer ends meaning you maybe able to get away with 1 less joint, this is what I did, less joints is less places to leak and less restrictions

Also are you using oe ecu and loom? If so you will need your boost pressue sensor mounting somewhere in the pipe run

Cheers mate, will get in touch with Derby performance and see what they can do

Glad you mentioned the boost pressure sensor, yet another thing ive over looked. [:$]

Yep, running OEM management and a R.Jonny converted loom.

Iirc these sensors are normally located on the intercooler ?

Cutting into the piping is gonna be fun lol.

I suppose that pipe could be added to the piping somewhere along the line. Never seen one before, as ive totally overlooked this [8(]

Will keep it OEM i think rather than using other types.

Will give it a measure when it arrives. Looks like the easiest way of installing the sensor. I may even shorten it down a little, and if the bore size is slightly smaller, i can always use a silicone reducer either end.

Yes its from an S3 or TT with a k04,it should be about 57 or 60mm probably,i have a spare one in the shed so i'll measure it for you.
You can get an alloy map sensor housing that can be welded onto a boost pipe though,i can't find the link to the one i bought but when i do i'll post it up for you,its what i did and it was easy.
