Not been online much lately for one reason or another.

Thursday Claire and myself left Worcester at silly o clock and headed down to Thurrock in Essex where she's had the Schrick 264 cams she bought ages ago fitted to the R32 at Big Boys toyz.

"While u wait fitting" had a whole new meaning as we had to amuse ourselves for the whole day (dropped car at BBT at 7am!), there's only so many shops you can visit at Lakeside shopping centre you know

Shaun from BBT reflashed the ECU with Revo stage II code to suit the mods carried out on the car (Cams,hi-flow cats, full Miltek,K+N filter) We were impressed with the BBT staff, all very friendly and obvious enthusiasts, one of the guys had a sweet stock looking mk1 with 1.8T power running on G60 steelies.

Drive home was interesting, car has a lot more mid range grunt and top end sparkle.

Friday was another early start as we headed down to Aylsebury in Bucks. to DS automotive who are a Porsche and Jap car specialists,I believe it's the old 'G-Force' establishment on Raban's lane industrial estate.

A while back now, a guy came on here looking for an R32 with aftermarket exhaust to be able to record the engine and exhaust sound so it can be used on a forthcoming 'huge' Playstation game. Claire's car spent the day being run under various states of load and various road speeds/rpm on their Dyno Dynamics dyno while being recorded by the soundman Steve.

He loved the sound of the car,and said a lot of the Jap cars he's tested just have too much 'hiss' lol!

    Wired for sound....

After the sound recording Stuart from DSA gave the car a proper power run. He said that the British GT cars are tested there so the dyno has to be 'right' - I know that WRC technologies at Silverstone also use this Dyno Dynamics dyno and I've read about cars showing much less power than on 'other' types of rollers. Even with this in mind the power Claire's car acheived with all the mods it has was a bit dissapointing (253bhp!)

    Power run video.

One thing Stuart did say was that on some cars he's ran with ESP/TCS system that can't be completely disabled by a push of a button can rob cars of up to 50bhp as the electronics 'think' the car is doing 4 wheel wheel spins and cut the power.

No matter of the power figures, car does run very well

Oh btw, I'm currently jobless after jacking in my job in Lincolnshire and moving to Worcester;)

Sounds like an interesting couple of days. Strange dyno results though, car got way more than that before cams went in didnt it.

Surprised to hear you jacking the job in Gary, suppose we are rather unfortunately going to be seeing more of you at the Worcs meets? ;) Just kidding mate, be good to catch up more regularly, shame youll be much much further from your favourite tracks though.

    Now finish that damn VR6!!

Yeah, strange results but car drives so much better than before, the old dyno lottery if you ask me... it was about 269-270 at Awesome last Winter IIRC.

Yeh, I'll be a more regular face around the Worcs meets from now on.. just need a job, applied for a position at Brooklyns in Worcester, hopefully with my F*rd experience and qualifications shouldn't be too difficult to get a job. I hope.

Mk2 VR has been running, but still needs a lot of work ...

Donington is the same distance from Worcester as it is from my old home...

    Welcome back G !

Indeed Worcester GTI meets from now on then! Stray into that part of the world myself occasionally - will drop into a meet if they coincide.

Claire had spoken to Shaun at the shows etc about fitting the cams and as they have had lots of experience with the R32 race car thought them to be ideal for the job, plus the fact they are Revo dealers and there's the option of adding the SPS switching gadget on the R32 so you can choose timing/ adjust throttle sensitivity etc at a later date.

Ideally to change the cams they needed the car two days but the tech started at 7am to get the job done by that evening as we had travelled some distance, can't argue with that for good service.

Just a bit - I've done 1200 miles in the past week alone![8(]

    [><] :o [:|] [8-}]

Just the one! It's not out till next year either!

Like Gary said, they should know the R32 due to their race-specced R32 for the VW Cup. I also wanted REVO this time (instead of AMD) so they seemed ideal. Just a shame it was a bit of a trek to get there - we had to leave at 4.30am to get there for 7am. Ideally it should have been a 2-day job but because of the distance they opened up early for us to get it done in one:thumbup:

Good to hear that the bits are all finally fitted Claire. I hope you enjoyed parts of the two day jaunts round the country, hopefully with a bit more of a smile on your face now. Does the seat of the pants feel better with the cams in?

Good luck with the job side of things G
