As you all know, the MK3 GTI is lowered 20 mm compared to a stock Golf Mk3

...But I do not want to have the car lowered 20 mm [:s]

Is it possible to raise the GTI in a simple manner to stock height ?

Stock springs would seem to be the simple solution. Not sure if the top mounts are different and help to lower them aswell. If so, I guess you could change them to a stock version too.

It would be nice if I just could buy the stock Mk3 springs and shocks.
But is this really possible ?
...I am thinking that the GTI has plus chassis and are wider. :o

Standard mk3 gti's are so high anyway. How much ground clearance do you need? They also handle terrible standard, raising it 20mm won't help!

Your comment does not answer my question.
I live high up in the Northern part of SWEDEN where we have real winter for 7 month/year.
No point for me to have a low car.

In which case 20mm higher will make no difference whatsoever

Don't think he meant anything bad. Just stated facts. The reason you buy a GTI is to drive it (i think that was the intention from VW anyway). It's not a familiy car in the meaning it should have the comfort as a standard car. it's a "sports car" and should handle as one. making it higher would make it less fun to drive. You would not be able to use the 150 german ponys under the hood, cos the handling would be awful.

After have followed you on numerous of forums both swedish and english (you missed one forum ;)) my conclusion is that the 16v GTI isn't for you.

It's a mk3 - about as far from a sports car as you can get.

Back to the original question - VR6 springs are designed for a (much) heavier engine so wouldn't a lighter engine have the effect of raising the car? (the front end at least - reverse rake in the snow sounds like FUN).

According to google you may be able to use b3/b4 passat vr6 suspension springs to raise the height.

Otherwise towing spring assisters that sit between the spring coil may help the spring compression.

Might be talking absolute poo but would using a top mount from a 1.9 diesel model increase the height slightly?
