Can I use shocks and springs from an standard height Golf Mk3 ? No ! Thanx for your input. Good idea !
You have never lived and drive in real winter climate in cold temperatures and heavy snowfall. What VW Forum have I missed ?

Perhaps we could give this guy a break, some of these answers border on the rubbish that gets fired around Vortex and the exact reason I'am not on there,THIS forum is about great people with educated sensible advise thats why I'am on HERE.
What skills do you got ? If you've got the balls you can stretch springs just make sure you have a rope through the middle of the spring to retain it if your stretching ropes come of Do it a bit at a time to get even stretch and be careful Or just buy bigger springs
Any things possible with a big pair of balls and a bit of danger lol but not for the faint hearted or fearful
Those of you who are unable or unwilling to answer serious/informative, please do not write/answer in this thread.
I am looking to mount BILSTEIN shock absorbers and a well-known aftermarket brand for the springs. Thought of putting diesel's front suspension springs and Heavy Duty/reinforced rear springs. This is to maintain approximately the same stiffness of the springs as the original GTI springs. What do you think about this ?
Yea good point but then you are limited by the full extension of the shock/strut,then you will eventually have an issue with driveshaft angle (not sure) if you can go to longer combo of strut/shock and springs, don't believe there is a 100% solution to this question. A spring maker (blacksmith as we call them) could heat the springs to remove the temper, stretch then retemper in an oven to the max height which may well be more than a stock non GTI setup. Maybe even going to a high profile tyre would add more but then the speedo goes out of whack. Both my stock spring mk3's scrap the spoiler on the rough road into my country property, they just aren't very high in the front afterall...300mm of snow thats another story.
The front is easy look at the link below http://www.clubgti.com/showthread.php?251806-lowering-and-raising-a-r32-on-standard-suspension-or-raise-any-mk3-4&highlight=
This is what you should have said right at the beginning A clear starting point is always the best way to start We've given you answers that start at free with work involved through to different springs etc Do you just want to raise it 30mm or do you want country height ? Glad you're now getting to we're you want to be YOU ANGERY SWEEDE lol only joking
Blame it on the total darkness they live in wintertime. (the "sun" is up like 3 hours a day, rest is pitch black)
I want to raise it 20 mm to standard Golf Mk-III height. ....In fact, the sun not even rises above the horizon during the darkest time of the year.
