As title, picked up a very cheap set of bbs solitudes yesterday for 25....

started the refurb today and my original plan was to go matt black with a red rim, I ended up going satin black, but am now not convinced on the looks?

what do you guys reckon, it is for a track day car after all.....

    Normal silver before refurb

I'm not a fan of black wheels, usually because they make the tyre wall look discoloured. However, your refurb job looks good. Good purchase too!

might want to remove paint from around the bolt holes just to be on the safe side

what can happen with paint in there then?

this is what made me want satin black wheels with red rim: albeit slightly nicer wheels than mine!! I think it looks good

cheers, well every one seems to like them satin black so am going to do them all like it...

I know strictly speaking I should stick with 205/50/15 as they are 15's same as standard gti wheels but I really want to run a lower profile to help handling etc.

If I ran a 40 profile it would effect my speedo obviously, are there any other effects of running a smaller radius? I will only be driving to and from track days and use the sat nav speedo more than anything else anyway....

how come? it appears very few options on the tyre front anyway so looks like it will be 50's. I know I can run 195/205 on a 6.5j which would be the best do you think?

205/50/15 R888's or check ebay for part worn rubber. I have just sold 5 cut slick road leagal dunlops that cost 160 per tyre 800 total, for 200 and they were 30-40% worn but in 16in size 225 width
