Fitting decals is easy. Soapy water. Thats all there is too it.
You can move it around while it's wet, then squeegy it out with a flat smooth scrapper device like a credit card.

Looked on the MK1 forum and there's nothing anywhere near that price tbh.

I agree, it was only after having read:

I thought it may be plausible....

Trying to get a house in February so will prob end up selling this without even driving it again [:s]

I'm eagerly awaiting the scrapyards to open after new year.

If anyone could help me out with the following parts that'd be great:

    Sunroof seal
    Rear number plate lights
    Door striking pin
    Lower side mouldings
    Rear bumper bracket seal/gasket
    Carpet underlay/sound deadening

I got my sunroof seal from GPC about a year ago (GPC they'd probably have some of the other parts you need too

I had a brand new one from them 2yrs ago and it went hard and brittle really quick.

I'll pick one up from the scrappy, they'll be plenty about as they are the same as later golfs, polos, etc.

I might not yet. The job I start in June will hopefully give a company car so I'll probably hang onto it.

Although selling it for a deposit on a house might be the more sensible option.

Finally got a day off tomorrow to crack on with it.

Got a mint Campaign steering wheel to replace the old one and awaiting a new drivers seat which should arrive Tuesday

It's a shame to see it stuck in my garage half complete!

I got a roll of car underlay from Frost Restorations. Cost me 12 and isn't big enough, I should have gone to carpet right TBH.

What type of underlay would you recommend if I went to the carpet shop?

I will probably sell this once it is put back together, I have just bought a house with the pregnant mrs and think a toy like this isn't really needed.

I'm not desperate to sell as I have my deposit sorted anyway, but if I did what sort of prices would I command once complete?

I won these on eBay a few weeks back:

I only required the driver's seat but the guy wouldn't split them or post them. Many thanks to VR6T from Aberdeen who sorted out collecting and posting them for me.

Still sat in the box in my porch but I guess they just need a good clean

Does anyone have a diagram of refitting a sunroof? Literally every screw/washer was taken out prior to the respray

have a look on vagcat or go down the vw garage and get a etka print out.

be very careful when refitting the sunroof, took my body shop a few times to get it in, so when you used it doesn't take paint off.

fitted the sunroof, just in the middle of fitting some underlay before I get the carpets and seats in.

Any idea how far up the driver and passenger footwell the underlay needs to go?
