I fobbed the guy off as I want whoever comes to look at it to see it finished.

Today I tetrasealed under each wheel arch, wing and in the doors.

I also sprayed the arch trim, A Pillar mouldings and chin spoiler

Tomorrow we are fitting the stripes and arches.

I will then give the discs a clean up as here is a little bit of pitting. It will then be MOT time

Then to refurb the P-slots ;)

300 fully comp to get insured with all mods declared. May drive it for a bit ;)

Fitted the A-Pillar mouldings and also the side stripes (got the bodyshop owner to do that lol)

Going down tomorrow to put the arches on, then will probably give the bumpers a spray of satin black. The linseed oil looks naff compared to the arches, petrol cap, A-Pillar mouldings etc.

Couple of Questions if I may:

    1. Did the mk1 Campaign have the lower stripe on the tailgate? Any pics if so?

    2. Does anyone refurbish P-Slots and will also paint the black within the P's? If so, who and how much?

    3. Does anybody have the lower side trim? Mine were rusted through so binned them. If not, has anyone ever fabricated their own? If so, how?

Isnt the paint on the trim just going to flake off?

Looks great though. Been a long time coming!!

With time I would say so, but it's the only way IMO to really clean up the trim. Boot polish etc. just don't cut the mustard

I don't physically have the long sill trim, it had corroded and has been thrown away.

Finally put the stripes and arches on:

few little bits to sort out like bonnet release cable, grill, front number plate, handles etc.

Booked in for MOT tomorrow, hopefully pass first time

Will then finally give it a well deserved wash!!!!

And get the P-Slots back on!

    that'd be great

also took it for a quick blast, it sure is fun!

A bit spluttery but I think that's because the petrol is over a year old now

    Gareth,

I don't want to be bearer of bad news but from the pics I believe the guy at the bodyshop you got to put the side transfers on MAY have done them wrong...the gap between the thick and thin stripe should be bigger than that!

I did exactly the same thing when I fitted the first set to mine and had to get another set from memory the gap between should be about 15mm! [:^(]

I might just add that fitting them wrong the first time was my mistake as I had the sheet upside down and cut it up wrong...but didn't realise till I had applied the transfers to the car!

I got my stickers from http://www.volkswagenstickers.co.uk/index2.php?cmd=search&cat=7

    They were described as:

No mention of any of it being for the tailgate also.

It is easily assumed that the top 4 (in the pic) were for the side stripes and the lower one was a continuation of the thin side stripe as one of the top 4 wasn't long enough.

No instructions were supplied with the stickers.

Dan who runs the site reckons it is my fault.

He has offered me a replacement set for 11.50, fair play to the lad.

But not sure if I can be bothered with the hassle of removal, refitting and an additional expense.

    MOT Time
Now has a years MOT, failed on a few things such as steering rack gaiter and pitted brakes. All sorted for 105!!
