Went to Santa Pod on sunday and a few of my mates took their cars down the strip and ran (best times):
    Megane F1: 14.6
    EP3 Civic type R: 15.6
    Clio 172: 15.3
    Citroen Xsara VTS: 15.8

And it got me wondering what my mk2 should be doing once its finished, obviously there are so many variables to take into account with regards to engine, drive train, chassis, weight etc but i was wondering if people could post up what times they've achieved and what spec of engine/suspension etc they have.
Thought it could be a useful point of reference for others as well as me if we get a decent amount of info, maybe get a few comparisons with VR6/20vt cars as well?

    Cheers

    James

i think standard you'll be looking at ariound 16 seconds.

if you get the perfect launch then maybe into the mid 15s.

it's not as asy as it looks or sounds.

my best (2l 16v-no rear seats, spare wheel) 15.4

mine is a 9a/KR with lightened flywheel and 4-branch, fully stripped with 1 bucket, hoping to get into the 15's really with some decent tyres is that realistic?

id be suprised if you didnt breach 15.5

my lardster mk3 abf did 16dead, bobby has a similar spec golf to yours, full interior as well, his has been timed to 60 at 6.8 (on a poor surface) and his leaves mine noticeably once in 3rd.

14.25 secs ;) if you have a good lauch

you will run 0.25sec faster with every 25bhp increase but you will need a LSD.

16V MK2 Standard stripped out will run about 15.75 sec

Ok, Daljsd got the following with his mk2 16v at Santa pod:
15.6sec with bog standard car with no rear bench or passenger seat.
    15.1sec with 4-branch manifold, re-calibrated k-jet & timing again no seats.

    My mk1 1.8 16v:
