Cheers RJ, I discovered the AUTODOC ones but they’re both out of stock. I also shied away From the eBay one as it feels pretty steep when compared to all the aftermarket ones that are £15-£30.

Im going to have a go at fixing the one I’ve got but 2nd choice sounds like the 2e one. Would this one do?

That one is MK2 golf 8v, won't work with abf hoses as MK2.one goes behind the oil cooler rather than in front like the MK3 version

I was just thinking about your comment. The pipe I’ve taken off the engine goes behind the oil filter and cooler. this Might have been a compromise as it has a non OEM 13 row oil cooler fitted via a sandwich plate adapter bracket off the OEM cooler. The top bracket tags to the block but the lower one doesn’t align with the one on the engine mount as per Mk2 after market ones. I’ll post a pic

ah ok, if it goes behind its got a set of mk2 hoses on and you'll want a mk2 16v metal pipe. there are 2 versions the early one has an extra outlet on it which goes to alloy side flange, later one deleted that and plastic flange also doesnt have extra fitting.

    027121065K - early
    027121065P - late

if the pipe you have doesnt quite line up its probably a mk2 8v version, same deal with mk3 8v vs 16v

Thanks John, only just saw this. That makes sense. It’s piecing your way through the logic of the original install and replacing like for like that’s always interesting

Thanks for posting this. My coolant pipe started leaking due corrosion.
When I sourced a replacement from a well known VW supplier I found it had an extra outlet.
Reading this thread I realise I needed the 027 121 065P. That fitted perfectly.
