any tips? i know nothing about diesels apart from this one is all mechanical. what can be done safely as it going to be a daily. some people say the 1600's are to weak to tune - but i think stanton from e38 had a massive tuned up example at one point.

    GTD tuning

Hello there. I have a GTD running somewhere in the region of 130bhp. Seems same as my friends PD130. you can buy everything you need quite cheaply from wess.stefan@baerlocher.com Kit includes a sprinter intercooler, a ground aneroid pin, a bleed valve and a boost gauge. these engines are immensely tunable.

car already has intercooler. fuel pump has been tweaked. boost gauge reads a solid 0.8bar - been told no more than 1bar or i'll be picking bits of engine up of driveway. whats a ground aneroid pin do? new to this diesel stuff.

Yes your car already has an intercooler but it's about as useful as half a scissors. It's tiny and totally in the wrong place to allow air through it. The mercedes sprinter intercooler is bigger than the gtd rad and is front mounted in front of the rad. The ground aneroid pin will allow greater fueling. No point in greater boost if you can't get more fuel. you'll need an exhaust gas temperature gauge also so wou'll actually know what's going on inside your engine. Sprue aerospace sell them. make sure you get the extension cable with it. Try doing a search on VW GTD website. They're **** hot.

right - further to my previous post i now have a cossie saphire intercooler 4x4 thing from the bay to try and make fit. looking into exhaust systems and sorting out the fueling side of the car. then maybe more boost on the horizon once i know the fuel and air are there to cope.
