I’m sure he will find the issue easily. Hopefully won’t be much.

    Look forward to the update.

    Cheers

I know I've said this before, but it's actually fixed this time!

One of the earths in the white plug at the back of the fusebox had come unpinned which caused all kinds of problems.
Vince at Stealth Racing re-pinned the connection and set the car up and it's much healthier now.

I now need to set up the alignment, raise the car slightly and bring it back to Vince for a dyno session.
I've enquired about a set of BC Racing coilovers and I'll be sticking some Nankang AR1 tyres on it.

    Happy days (for now )

    Good news.

I bought those FK Coilovers used and they looked pretty WELL used when I fitted them! They must be way past their best by now. I reckon a new kit will make a good difference.

I’ve just fitted KW V2 Coilovers to my 850 T-5R and they look really well made. They were quite a bit more than BC’s though. A lot of the 850 R / T-5R owners fit the BC Coilovers and are pleased with them for road. I do read that for track the KW’s are better but that maybe something to do with the weight of the 850.

Yeah after speaking to my local supplier he's recommended the KW V1 over the BCs so I'll go with them.
The FKs are well past their best now, when I was cleaning them up I realised the shocks were goosed on 3 of the 4.

Any ideas why Photobucket has blurred all of the images? I'll host on Imgur if that will help with future updates.

photobucket have gone into money grab mode, holding your images hostage unless you pay up. if they put a smaller non-intrusive watermark and didnt blur the images it woudlnt be so bad. I suggest move hosts, or you can upload your pictures direct to the forum :)

Ah excellent I'll just upload straight to here instead!

Thanks for the continued help this past year Jonny, glad there was some light and the end of the tunnel eventually.

Car is still behaving itself, I even managed to get it over to Caffeine & Machine last weekend.
Unfortunately I can't upload pics direct to the forum as they're too big apparently.

Progress threads used to be so easy, thanks Photobucket!

I came close recently but it's back in the good books.
Nothing too drastic in the way of updates, building a house has taken my full attention / spare cash but i've just been enjoying driving the Golf now it's behaving again. I have a track day booked at a local sprint course on August 8th.

    It desparately needs:
    new suspension
    new exhaust
    wheels
    tyres
new seats (current ones expired in '98 lol)

After that i'll be happy, the engine is quite tappy still but i've checked the cam chain and there's nothing wrong there, engine still looks as clean as when you built it. I reckon it's just an exhaust leak.
Will update with pics after the track day.
