started to get the loom in to the car then realised that the engine loom has to come back into the car to the ECU not just the bit for power etc.... so started to strip that down and get that into a position to be able to move that into the car.
right.. so ECU has been re-mapped by tuning technics for: K03s - new unit arrived Saab Red Tops - Ordered - bosch 0280150431 VR6 MAF Housing - new unit arrived Oversized TIP - Inew unit arrived FMIC - Installed 4 bar FPR - Installed Just for my referance. Current injectors are: AWP--180--317cc--3bar--06A906031BA- so i'll have my old Silicon TIP to sell aswell as the 317cc injectors. I also have a standard K03/s Silicone TIP in Black that i will be selling as i've got the over sized one coming for the 3" MAF
the MAF i ordered was the right size but the sensor fitment was not quite right and it would not go in. I have just paid £50 for one from heritage Air Mass Meter VR6 021-906-462 at least i can send this one back if its wrong update..(next day) That MAF was correct and the 1.8t Sensor slotted right in
Refurbished K03s has arrived. I bought it knowing its missing the stud but its had all the bearings and seals replaced so its all good for what i want. lets face it, im not really pushing the limits on power at about 230.
Little update, Turbo fitted and torqued to spec with new crush washers and new gaskets for the oil lines. Oversized TIP installed, i trimmed about 15mm off the bit that joins on to the turbo and had to bend the water line out a little to allow it to fit SAAB Red tops have arrived, i got stung on a customs charge, but still think i came out ok on them, i put them onto the rail today and they sit in the inlet nicely as it was a BAM inlet..they sit a little higher so i need to just make a couple of spacers for the bolts that secure the fuel rail to the inlet manifold. lightling loom extension completed to the near side Brake lines all done up tight Jobs to do: Extend the loom for the ignition amplifier Run the battery cable and identify the place to secure the junction box and Battery Install the engine for final loom position testing Power it all up and check for wiring errors Install the dashboard Secure all the cables in place Fill with fluids (oil, coolant) Run the engine, inspect and check for codes Re-install the remaining interior Re-install the remaining engine bay components Buy and install a new front window drive it, drain some oil and check for any issues (should not be anything mechanically wrong, the engines healthy and not been touched, its only if the turbo is upset and that should be evident pretty quickly) Get using it again and enjoy it like i used to, but now with another 40bhp i'm sure i've missed small things off of here, but will add as i go.
Spent a few hours on Saturday afternoon putting the engine in place and just bolting that in. one thing that has popped up is that with the boost pipes in place, the fuel rail is now in a place that won't allow for the fuel pipes to attach. This is because the Saab red tops sit differently and raise the fuel rail up about 10mm. so i'm not sure what the options are in relation to that at this point...shouldn't be a huge issue, i might have to warm rail pipes and bend them into position a little better...or fit something different. i should now be in a better position to see how the loom fits now though

I'm in Stoke Gifford. Never taken the mk2 on a track either, had a date booked this month at Castle Coombe but its all cancelled due to Covid. Yeah, I'm not too concerned about driving as quick as possible, just looking for a good day out! Hopefully next year! Where are you? I assumed Devon or Cornwall
Once you’ve driven on track you realise just how slow you drive on the road, even when you’re bombing around the B roads. I recommend it to anyone, it’s so addictive.
It's always the prep thats put me off, having to take all the things with you. i appreciate what you are saying though. Maybe this year now im done with the major mods for winter... obviously just pending on getting the car back on the road soon
We took a few bags of tools, jack and stands. Some random spares like coolant hoses etc. other than that, turned up, ragged it around and drove it home! After crashing. I hope to see you there one day!
Well.... ITS ALIVEEEEEE... i didnt ruin it all re-wiring it! i've filled it with oil and it runs. So now i have to pull all the wires back through and wrap them and then get onto the job of re-building it all
