mk3 2.0 16v overfueling no start? pls help

    yeh got vag and the same cable as you, as recommend in a post you made some time ago that's how i knew about the abs faults.

    I had a similar problem with over fuelling and had to have the ecu repaired which wasnt cheap but cured the problem on a 8v 2l mk 3

    with the repaired ecu, how many miles does it now get per tank?

    Not really sure never checked comsumption on any thing that ive owned, I dont seem to be filling it up more though

    the mileage per tank is a good indication of how healthy a mk3 gti is

    300miles a tank is about right

    when they get ill it seems to go down to 240

    have you have ever set the distributor up using vag.com. if so would you mind either posting or pm'ing me an idiot's guide to it as when mines hitting 5000rpm it cutting off the accelerator.

    im not aware of there being an option to fiddle with the dizzy in vagcom.

    so yours wont past 5krpm?

    no,

    read somewhere that it's due to the dizzy being slightly out of sync with cams and that it can be adjust manually and measured through vag as you're adjusting it slightly, just can't can't get me brain around the info tonight.

    i'll have a look on rosstech and let you know what i find.

    Normally a timing issue putting the crank sensor into fault

    its also worth mentioning the crank sensor will throw up a fault code if you check with the engine off, if it comes back if you clear it and re-check with the engine on then you should worry :)

    I've heard that before somewhere. Never had it myself though

    I had it on my mates ABF -> MK2 conversion. I KNOW it wasnt the crank sensor cos it had a brand new one plus it runs perfectly :)
