    Wow!!!

And all I wanted was to hear your opinions on what your thought I should do with the MK3 Gti! I didnt want an insight into the kinetics of the internal combustion engine! Lol! Thanks though, all of you.

Since my post I have been busy

I have fitted a koni suspension kit, now sits 40mm lower. Its as hard a nails (hate that) but at least it goes around corners now!

I have fitted a magnex SS 3 twin CAT back exhaust. No super real difference, apart from aesthetics.

I put a K&N filter panel in the air box. No real difference.

    HUMPH.

I have wax oiled underneath. should last another couple of years.

I think its a bonnie car and will persist with it. If the engine gives me problems, thats it, it is sold. The abs is enough to drive anyone off a cliff!

I am considering a 306 gti6 just because they actually want to go quick!!!

Someone please reasure me of the VW Gti magic........!

    Cheers

    Spadds

    Get a Mk1/Mk2.

    Progress is over-rated.

Get a GTi - much better cred. Peugot/Clio drivers hate MKI/II GTis, it's fun leaving them standing. Neither me nor husband would never buy a French car

when you say leaving them standing..... you must mean the 1.2 'desire' model?? as to be honest a clio williams/172/182 would leave almost all GTI's standing!!!! lol

make sure the bump stops have been shortened!!

as for pace, you wont get much pace from the 8v, not unless you go absolutely nuts on the tuning. or get a 16v, it will have that muc power, standard

these MK3 threads seemed to have replaced the usuall 8v/16v threads and are getting equally as tiresome. When I bought my mk3, it cost me 4600 which at the time I could have had any mk1/2 I wanted for that much (rallye aside) but I had to do mega miles, needed something that did a bit of everything which I felt and still feel the MK3 does the best out of all the golfs....

Not as light or fun as a mk1, not as good a drivers car as a mk2, not as pretty as a mk4 and no where near the same level as a mk5 gti - but it is pretty good at everything IMO

so for people with mk1/2's that always chirp in, I wouldn't want to have either as a daily thank you, nor would I want to take a prospective date out in one either. However the chicks dig mk3's and we all know thats true
