    oh dear.....

the same old put a V6 based engine into a mk2 or 3 that started life with a 8v/16v and it is a disaster that wont go round corners. No doubt a 20vt conversion makes much more sense since it is ONLY a 1.8 but that is where you are wrong as you are forgetting just how many additional components are required that all add up!

Weight wise there is SOD ALL difference between between a VR6 and a R32 and a 20VT.... i think Storm reckoned that by swapping from a 20vt to a R32 with a charger they added 35kg which so long as you are using the correct springs and shocks will not ruin the cornering ability and besides if you lose a split second in a corner you make up for it in the straights:thumbup:

Id have thought starting with a VR6 with a either a charger (2k fitted) or a reasonably tuned NA lump (1k worth of cams, 6branch, remap) with a lower final drive will be a great starting point and then you can drive that around whilst collecting parts for a eventual R32 swap. Places like Storm might even give you PX on the VR6 running gear towards a R32.

Put 35kgs of weight on your bonnet and do a track day! - 20vt FTW...

they did on the caddy forum, there wasn't much difference between the 20v and the vr6, the 20v was a 30kg lighter than the vr6

as stated if you want a golf mk3 for a r32 conversion just get a golf mk3 vr6. the benefits for you between a vr6 and a 16v as a donar car is - the vr6 will give you 160mph clocks, vr6 gearbox, vr6 radiator, vr6 flywheel, vr6 front engine mount bracket, and vr6 starter motor (if your using the vr flywheel and vr box on the r32). extras you would have to sort with the valver. either way you can sell the original engine, wiring and ecu for cashback.

r32 goes straight in. custom downpipe and management + wiring and your away. if your going for 02m 4-mo box / or 4wd, then you would need more from a r32 eg driveshafts as the flanges are bigger on 02m box, gearbox mount +brackets to remount it as it mounts on the chassis leg, prop shaft etc etc. we got one running the audi 3.2 lump. running vr box on emerald round 260-70 hp. spinning tyres and running sweet.

all depends what you want and how much you want to spend:clap:
