just checked it now on an ice cold car it may be normal ?it said on my dash it was -3.5 ran vag said fuel was 0degree air was -1.8 and water 1.8 and pre glow period 2.3.....does a reading like tht suggest its ok?
that sounds about right, it could be worth running the same test while driving the car from cold logging the values looking for a number (water) dropping out it doesn't rule out temp sender
right i thought id just take glow plugs out have a look they are sooty black s if running rich is this same indication as on a petrol ?
Yeah, not a bad thing to change - mine's coming up to 100k and I wonder if I should change them next year, working ok at the moment tho... I know my local VAG has changed a few sets on PD's but not as part of normal servicing... As Ian says they are cheap from VW but I also know the Bosch ones in Halfords are 12 for four on the trade card and altho they list for the PD engines, I wonder if they are the same as VW supply or not as the Sparkplugs are never quite the right ones I find altho they always do the job fine... Anyone know how long a Glowplug should last generally?
