4wd @ c.200bhp must be concentrated aids in that case

all depends on the power level

cos its losing it through the tranny so it naturally has less to put to the ground.

4wd makes sense, when you have a shed load more power than c.200bhp

so explain how it is "losing" it if the 4wd only comes in then the front wheels are slipping.....it's only be "lost" to wheel spin anyway if the 4wd wasn't there.

back to the original thread, mk5's are horrible, they look like a japanese car, and R32's look chavvy. buy an r32, sell all the tat to some knobber on the mk4 forum and have a nice stealthy car.

or just buy a 4motion and convert it to r32 running gear, now there's an idea...

I don't think mk4 R32's look chavy, they maybe do a bit in the look at me blue, but in a subtle silver or that later green colour they look awesome.

For a 200 brake car, FWD is better. Go drive a standard R32 and a Focus RS and tell me you need 4WD........

not ever driven a mk4 r32 but i have owned a mk5 gti for 3 years and have to say it is ace . very good size car with 1 hell of a chassis , handles so well it make a crap driver feel like a driving god .

i have moded every car i have owned and i have done a bit to the engine on this but only lowered it 30mm as i don't want to ruin it as this happens soo much i.e too stiff etc .

i must admitt i have been looking at different cars like e46 m3's and the new rocco . but i can't see anything to be gained by changing it .

VW cup had a mk4 r32 winning untill the mk5 gti came along.

When i was buying my mk5 gti i test drove a mk5 R32. As in the gti the chassis was outstanding but there is not enough power 240? bhp to warrant the 4wd extra bulk.

The mk4 R32 will alays be a little special but the mpg and running costs will always blight the R32 in th is country at least.

4 pot Vs 6 pot, FWD Vs 4WD will always run. For my money the new S3 hits the nail on the head....especially with 320 hp!

^^^ new S3 also twice the cost, you can get second hand MK4 R32's for 8k upwards, and MK5 GTi's for 10k upwards.......
