No. As I said to the copper that pulled me over and asked this question, I didnt see the need to declare a vr6 turbo conversion, they'd never tell

How long is a piece of string?

Ring up the company and ask "What if I....?" Then you'll know.

If you don't declare things then i hope you crash on your own and die!

If you have not declared things then your insurance is invalid and if you do hurt, damage, kill anyone else of their car they may not get what they deserve.

You make think i'm harsh, but some of the longer standing members will remember me and the red 2.0 nova threads...

Tell em EVERY detail, as if you have an INCIDENT/ACCIDENT i'm sure the company will do all they can not to pay out!!
If you dont tell em you may as well not bother having insurance!! ;)
    IMO anyway!!

I've declared everything on both cars. Wouldn't be able to sleep at night otherwise!

I knew a lad who had a Nova with a 2.0 engine in it. It was originally a 1.2 merit.

I didn't like the lad, and when i found out it was still registered and insured as a 1.2 i came on here and asked advice.

I didn't tell the police, despite most people suggesting i should.

A month later he crashed, head on, into a woman. They both dies.. him instantly and her after weeks in hospital in masses of pain.. for her and the family.

The insurance company found out about the mods when they investigated the crash.

    They invalidated insurance.

The womans family never got any compensation for the tragic and painful death of the mother of 2 young kids.

I came back on here telling everyone, i felt the most guilty i have ever felt for not informing the police.

If you don't declare things then i hope you crash on your own and die! A FUCKING SLOW AND PAINFUL DEATH TOO!!!

Maybe thats the kind of thing to say?

I'll take it easy when people stop asking the most ridiculous questions about things like this!

guilty Tubs " i felt the most guilty" ;) , but a very good moral story,

insurance companies are fatherless childs like that. so don't be a muppet, at the end of the day you will loose out not them.

Actually, there is a fund set up for uninsured claims and losses, so the family would have gotten compensation.

Being ANAL and declaring everything is so pointless.

Would they invalidate insurance for big bumpers - no

Would they invalidate insurance for braided brake hoses - no

Would they invalidate insurance for colour coded / smootheed trim - no

Inform them of mechanical changes to the car, and expensive items such as wheels for theft sake.

I wouldnt tell them if i fitted a full 90 spec kit to a driver for instance, but would if the engine had been changed :)

Its not about saying wether you thought it was standard or not - its simply the fact it would contribute absolutly nothing to an accident and they wouldnt give a toss.
