    I've got a JVC SH909. It's the dog's bollocks, and quite cheap now from http://www.caraudiodirect.co.uk/ :)

Can't fault the sound quality on MP3 playback, and it is a very stylish looking unit in my opinion.

    I have a Blaupunkt Daytona MP53.

It's ok but can be little slow when seeking tracks (pauses to read the CD-R). Sounds great tho when playing.

Best bonus about having an MP3 player is the fact that you don't have to carry loads of Original CDs in your car (much safer and much tidier!). I go for about 6 albums on one CD-R, with tracks recorded @ 192Kbps.

Also many people have commented "Where's your CD Changer? In the Boot?" then I have to explain the joys of MP3. :)

I bought an Alpine CDA981RR a few months ago, and it`s a fantastic piece of kit, sounds excellent, and fast at picking up tracks too. Buy one, you won`t look back ;)

another thing :) one of the guys got a sony mp3 player and he can only skip single tracks at a time so if he wants a song on the 4th album on the cd [:s] he has to go through every song untill he find it

is this the same on all of them[:s]

That's one thing that I do not like about my SH909, I must admit: the fact that seeking through a track is very, very slow. I tend to listen to MP3 CDs that I've burned containing long continuous DJ mixes that are not broken up into individual tracks, and it's pretty hopeless if I want to fast forward through the mix to find something. It's just so slow.

Flicking between individual tracks can be done quite fast.

Can anyone recommend an MP3 head unit that is actually really fast when it comes to seeking through an individual track?

No, on mine you can search either folders or tracks, all you do is press a search switch, and when you turn the rotary controller the names of the tracks/folders flick through by name, find what you want, press the controller in, and it plays the track immediately, very quick indeed :)

That Pioneer model you pointed out looks rather nice, but I've never used one of those. It does look remarkably similar to the JVC SH909.

Can't find the SH909 on there anymore, but the next MP3 head unit I buy might be another JVC such as this one:

But what if you want to search within a particular track? How fast can you do that?

As fast as a normal CD search, don`t know of any HU that would do it any faster than that TBH.
