Its actually painted already, well coloured anyway. I spent this afternoon flatting & cleaning it in preparation for the clear coat.
I've painted it in BMW Le Mans Blau.
Basically I'm not very inventive so I'm pretty much copying the look of this car:

I've got the bumpers, clear heads, rear lights (M3 Style large rears), fully retrimmed the interior in black (half leather), clear front indicators etc etc.
Still sourcing a few of the parts, cant wait till I start putting it back together!

Anyone have any idea where I'd get wheels like the ones in the Futrell picture above? Or what they're called maybe?

howdy mate, should be good when its done. what engine did you decide on, g40?

wheels are le casteletts, usually 14" but there are some rare 15" flying around

i think the 14" came on mk2 gti aswell

Will put in a G40 if I can source one here in Ireland. Focusing on the bodywork / suspension first though, will prob be a while before I get a new engine in.
Will post some photos of the paint job in progress later if i can. Those wheels are pretty nice all right, any ideas of a probable source?

Coming along now, what I've got left to do is as follows:
Fit new front shocks & springs.
    Sew & fit headlining.
    Fit Windows
Source mounts for front chrome bumper & put it on
    Make front numberplate bracket
Tidy up a few other small bits.
I think the paintwork came out well but will hopefully get a photo up over the weekend to update the thread.
