This was the real challenge as I was a bit concerned getting this right.I cut out the filler panel where needed offered it up.then scratched a line around it with Braddle type tool.cut the panel out did some inner repairs also but didn’t photo it forgot.
Then I drilled through some holes in the perimeter and welded some (leafs of metal)so that the new panel could only fit flush and not drop through and this is how it came out.
It’s rough it’s ugly but it is very strong.
Nothing some filling and sanding won’t sort. 1D660298-918E-480D-8D38-839951866B9B.jpeg

A bit of grinding welds, filling and sanding and
Not to bad.gave it a coat of 2 k primer so it’s about done for this quarter.next side isn’t so much work.rear valance panel wasn’t to bad just a small repair at each end. 8BDA94F8-019C-48FD-9C61-9720B3562267.jpeg

Hi I read about some running issues people have had in the past and refer to changing the (blue) temp sender/sensor that gives ecu signals.
Mine is an 88 and what plug is it I’ve included this pic.
There is a blue one on side of the head that is blue but I’m thinking it’s this 2 wire white connector with what looks like a black plug. IMG_4159.jpeg

the whirte one there is the pre-88 equivalent of the later blue sensor. you can test it before you go out and change. if you fit the plastic front flange you can user the late blue sensor, but you also need to change the black sensor so that as well as the cost of the flange will probably negate any savings

Ok ordered one anyway there’s a lot of old looking stuff.im not going to change everything but anything that might might throw the ecu I’ll prob change.luckily for me having had a couple of early digi gtis before I have some spare stuff.
Last time I started it was hesitant lumpy when revved but tbh I’m not suprised as I believe it hasn’t been ran since 2019.
Just giving it a good going over and hope it’s a better runner.
Head is now off needed new manifold old one leaking maybe cracked.while off doing the stem seals, grind the valves, new tappets.
Head inside gunged up but over cleaner sorted that.

Wet day yesterday so starting rebuilding a drivers seat.got a good donor passenger seat from a 5 door mine is a 3 door.
Swapped the base over.then onto the backrest
To swap it to the tilt frame.
Seat it came of had these side support iron
    But my old seat didn’t.
So I cut them off and welded them on to the tilt frame had to be done as the foam had the recess for the bars.and I thought a nice easy job lol. IMG_4205.jpeg

    Can’t keep everything

Now changing the stem seals they needed doing rock hard with cracks in.
One tool I don’t have is stem seal pliers and isn’t easy getting them out.but nearly done them all now.
But next time I’ll have a pair for sure.
It’s made an easy job a lot harder.

Engine all back together after top end rebuild
    And running quieter.
Still a bit choked up when pushing accelerated pedal down a bit like when the choke was pulled out (to far) back in the day of chokes.
Which is making me think it’s too rich and needs a turn on the air box which way leans it out ???thanks IMG_4296.jpeg

A bit of a strange one so after putting engine back together had it running yesterday for a good half hour idled nice.a bit lumpy chokey
When revved so today was gonna make some small adjustments and now won’t even fire.
Don’t know what’s happened but can’t be much.
All I have done since yesterday is clean ecu spades & module.

Nas it might be worth rechecking the ECU connections and terminals plus give them a shot of electrical contact cleaner in case some crud got in there.

Seems a bit odd to me as it was running yesterday.
Forgot I did a bit of work on leads cap and arm this morning.could have made a real schoolboy error and got tdc (1) pointing at wrong cylinder.
Will look tomorrow had enough today
