Price w/o shipping and duty looks very good tbh.

I looked at these some time ago but decided to go down the Jenvey route due to proven quality and reliability....but have got to agree that this would be a more cost effective solution ;)

$135.00 delivery to UK, duty on top. Worth a punt I reckon, I've already got an intake system for my cross flow or I'd have seriously looked at a set. Looks like it might be a bit weak in places but it can all be remade or modified as the weaknesses matrerialise.

Out of interest Tony what intake system have you got? Is it an off the shelf item or bespoke?

Hi Tim, I've just got a Roland manifold and either Dellorto or Jenvey options. It depends on what I use the head for.

If it was just for trackdays etc I'd use the carbs but if I went cross flow on the race car I'd have to seriously consider going up to some 48mm bodies looking at the power levels we are now running at.

My thoughts were that the whilst the Spiess set up I use now is designed for a very different type of engine, with a long inlet length with the injectors right up by the butterflies, they produce the numbers. The OBX set up looked similar and I just thought might work well based on that. The Roland manifold is typical of the type, made to suit a DCOE pattern and not as straight as the Spiess/OBX design and shorter. It doesn't look as trick but I'm sure it would work fine. Well made compared to some others.

Funnily when Jason tested the Spiess inlet set up for me on my current head it didn't work as well as we thought it might. At peak flow there were some odd results, a bit of fine tuning got it better but not perfect. However it certainly makes the numbers when combined with the engine. Goes to show you can't always tell.

There is another seller on eBay.com @ $599 or Best Offer.
$135 delivery sounds excessive to me. I'm happy to take delivery and send on (as a gift of course) if anyone is serious.
Quick related question - how would you make provision for a TPS with this?

I will probably take you up on that offer after christmas :) Ill keep in touch ;)

I think the TPS attaches to the far right throttle mech (in the pic). Info suggests on Vortex that it can accept TPS part number 044907385A from the 2e TB.

    ^^This.

After understanding what it took to build my own set of throttles, these bolt on jobs look very promising, even though they are for a ABA not 16v.

Tony's suggestion means to should not cost a lot or nothing at all if you have to tweak them to run better.

TPS is a common part too.

There is a part on them to bolt a tps, no moding required.

I have this for my ABA

but as it's eventually destined for a mk1 Scirocco, I'm not sure if it will fit unmodified into the engine bay.

Those ITBs are starting to look mighty tempting....

Why does your ABA manifold have a restrictor at the TB, then a large plenum, and then small dia runners Mr. Brown? Do you like watching the air intake velocity jump up and down?

Just bumping this up for an opinion on whether the 45mm butterflies are "too much" for a NA 8v - or whether something like this is in order?

Are they just using the turbo as a silencer? [:s]
