polishing alloys

    i started on one of them lastnight... my god this sucks. started now, so have to finish it. the bare metal looks beautiful tho

    bare metal, a touch of polish, then lacquer. thats my aim, thats what i want, but by what ive read on here that wont work

    ill carry on with the paint stripper and then see what happens

    considered doing them a dark grey maybe? if you decide to paint them...as where you don't clean very often they will end up that colour with brake dust anyhow

    that was teh first colour i considered. audi dolphin grey [:D]

    but it could make already small wheels look smaller.

    stupid question, to paint them, i do have to take them back to bare metal right? then just add the primer etc

    you don't have to no. in fact sometimes painting over factory paint is better as there is more protection from rust.

    Basically with mine I wet sanded it all down with 180 to get all the stubborn dirt, imperfections out, then wet sanded with 400 and finally 800... any bits that had chunks out of it filled with P38....

    if you then use a high build primer (halfords sell high 5 but its 11 a can!!!) I got some from a local auto paint supplyer called filler primer and it was really good, covers any scratches from sanding etc and it sands so easily you can get it baby smooth

    erm too late for that now. the bad wheel is pretty much all bare metal lol
