Denso plugs wont EVER be going on to a car I have anything to do with.
Unreliable POS products which fail and cause terminal engine damage

that polo looks like a world of fun though!

not harsh at all, several other people have also suffered exact same issue on their 1.8t on denso IK22, where equivalent NGK heat range plugs work perfectly. one unlucky cupra netter started his just rebuilt engine, it was on idle, and the earth electrode fell off and shagged his engine immedateoly.

Denso would not guarantee their advised plug would work when I asked for what would they advise. NGK stepped up to the plate promtly, and stand behind their product, Denso just make excuses and caviats...

barge, touch, would'nt, with, pole << rearrange as desired

its not right that they couldnt nominate a product and ensure that it would be the right one for you, but then is that something they can guarantee because they dont know the spec of your engine blah blah blah but at least the problem should be sorted now. how long till the beefa is back in action?

they do know the spec of my engine, I gave it to them, and asked them for a plug to suit.. when they then would'nt guarantee it would work, it confirmed my decision.. NGK, Denso did nothing to give me any confidence in their products or tech support..
I dont hear of NGK's failing but do hear of Denso's shedding bits....

Ibiza is waiting its rods being rebushed on the small ends currently, as I thought whilst its apart these bits could do with a bit or a refresh.

    regards

right - another update after a weekends work...
SEM manifold known pin holes (the visible ones) have been welded, but I did'nt like some of the visible porosity in the cast section of the plenum, so as I dont want to every be doing this again, shot blast the whole thing back to raw ally, and then weld all others which may become visible..

that done, there were remaining pores showing, which were not suitable to welding, so have been metal filled now and sanded back for a smooth clean, sealed surface.

Pictures below of the process so far.

Chemical metal filled and sanded back to fill and smooth all pores/dimples in the cast plenum

Went down to Badgerville earlier and Bill was just leaving in this Polo to go to a dyno day at Ajec racing, who have a Dyno Dynamics rr. I'll let Bill post up the results, but lets just say there can't be many Polos around with nearly 400 [honest] bhp..

different power plots with me dialing in some more of da boost between a few runs
wish i had twiddled just one more time to hit the 400bhp "magic" number, which 2bar looks to be able to achieve.

Dyno Dynamics rollers also known as Heart Breaker as you dont get figures you "like to see" but more like "how it is".... when you make DD figures, they are realistic not optomistic like most other dyno's seem to be

Polo is getting there tho and thanks to ajec for accomodaring my fiddling and logging during the runs on a few cars.

GVK, i wish my cars sounded as sweet as yours... luv the vr soundtrack.. best of the day by far imho.....yummy

Bill, that Polo is bloody nuts as is!

You're a patient man to put up with some of the comments on the SCN thread though, especially from the owners 'mate'

Cheers Bill, we fetched it from home for MOT on Friday and I followed one of the lads back, he was driving the mk2 and I was in a Fiesta, It sounds like a toned down Gallardo or similar when following
