Hi guys ive just taken on a 83 MK1 Gti, it was on the cover of the Golf mag and others back in 99/00, sadly since then has went to ruin. So its sitting in my garage waiting restoration and a shed load of money spend on it.. Jump onto the site and have a look, let me know what you think of the car and the website of course...
Wow, I remember that car, glad to hear it's still around and being prepared for a rebirth Looking forward to reading the stories and seeing the pics Al
Liking the Mk1 , are they Momo Arrows on there? Is there much that needs doing engine wise? Please tell me your keeping the colour
SORRY ITS BEEN A WHILE After a brief strip down then house move which meant the car had to be rebuilt, I've managed to get things moving again now that Ive settled into the new house. Unfortunately Ive only got a single garage now, but cant have everything. So today managed to get the engine out and the new block up onto an Engine Stand to be re-con'd. Ive also updated the website with the new pics
A big mate of mine owns a Valeting and car wash centre and he came up today with some engine degreaser. He foned and said "this stuff is the daddy, wait will you see it work" and he wasn’t joking. Honestly if I didn’t have such big plans for the car I would bother painting the engine bay, it did such a good job. Quick spray and leave for 5 mins, then rinse it off job done. We also did the New 2.0 16V engine
Blimey I also remember this car from shows in Bristol when I was into i.c.e years back....loved it! Cool!
Wasnt the car for sale on ebay about a month or so ago?? i remember seeing it and lovin it, but couldnt find it again. Looking good so far. Steve
OK today i stripped the first batch of parts to send to the company who are doing all the Chrome work. I also finsihed stripping the engine bay all execpt the exhaust (That someone is supposed to be collecting.....Paaaaaady). Got the loom out Brake leavers, servo ect and removed the brake/fuel pipes.
Today i spent some time cleaning up the engine bay. I invested 100 in a Dewalt grinder and put it too good use. Spot the difference, answers on a post card Before After
