Can the vvt map be altered to suite the more advance of the BUB engine I have both of most of the parts other than the mk5 ECU
Thanks. I'll try to get hold of them as it's all a bit over my had if I'm honest. I know the cam sensors are in place but the top of the engine is from the old one as it still has the old engine number on it lol. I need to speak to the previous owner so as soon as I getvthe the log book ill write him a letter pr do a bit of Facebook stalking ha ha Thanks everyone
Spoke to Andyout. It is the cam and sprockets that need changing. Better get a lottery ticket this weekend lol
One of the cams is the same but can't remember which one The sprockets are over 300 each Could be worse I guess
if it has the mk4 head it may have the cams and vvt adjuster sprockets as well think you need to find out what exactly was done you don't want to buy parts you don't need to you have two vvt cam sprockets at over 300 each this is why most people don't change them while doing the chains even though you are meant to you also have two more sprockets that are only a few quid two chains and the five guides and tensioner that would be say another 250ish
Trying to get in touch with the previous owner as I don't want to mither the garage who looked after it. Not got the log book yet so I may have to call them again lol. Cars from Whitehaven which is light years away from me lol
Spoken to the garage in Cumbria and sprockets and sensors where swapped over. Been to a vag specialist and the code is 17755, he thinks its the chain or tensioners. The bloke up in Cumbria is adamant the chain ect was fine when fitted and the light as always been on. I guess time and money will find out lol

Votex in Congleton did the diagnostic and want to do the chain for 1500-2000. The car is under a 3 month warranty so waiting on a call back from the garage I bought it from. The car runs fine and there is no strange noises coming from the engine, the garage from Whitehaven told me all the relavent parts were swapped over and the chain was in perfect condition. The bub was low mileage and the light came on straight away, maybe they didn't fit it correctly? I feel lost if I'm honest and the whole situation has ruined getting my dream car, but I suppose that's life. If I get the chain done and the light stays on at least I don't have to worry about it going on me.
Hopefully its panic over. Had it on vagcom and block 208 is 5 and 209 isn't showing at all. Hopefully this means its a sensory problem, or is someone going to crush me? ha ha
not convinced as this was what happened when my friends r32 when the chains went only the one cam showed up even after a sensor was changed his was on the mid 50k it's not uncommon for them to be a tooth out if it's under warranty I wouldn't mess about
If the chain was that badly stretched that the sensor wasn't picking up the chain wouldn't it be noisy? Which sensor picks up block 209?
209 should be the exhaust some are noisy others are not some can be noisy and the fig are good is it noisy? could be it was not done right in the first place and it's out a tooth not unheard of even from new but rare
Got Gaz at vag auto care services on the case. Managed to get my hands on the 2 cam pulleys, cam sensors and casing to hopefully get this light off. He's also doing a full service and Haldex service. Then I can get coil overs, exhaust and remap sorted. Cheers for all your input guys ????
