    R32 is a 3.2, 4 motion a 2.8.
The running gear is the same.
Not sure about brake setup though.

I think the interior and general equipment spec will be a lot different - oh and the r32 has a different body with flared arches. VW like to do that for some reason...

R32 weighs nearly 1500kg's, so that's a respectable time IMO.

i have to say if mechanically they are so similar then thats quite dissapointing. chipping the V6 wouldnt leave you too far from the R32. anyone know how well they go with a chip, BHP and performance wise. and possibly with turbo and maybe capacity increase. what with there being anything upto 10k between them price wise it would be a bargin imho

True - I don't know how VW dared stick a GTI badge on most of them!

A lot of the guys off uk-mkivs have had the AMD stage 2 remap on their R32 which includes Miltek exhaust and are seeing 260-270bhp. 0-60 times are low 6's as well apparently.

Yeah but who wants a lard arsed car where they had to increase the engine output just to make it slower than the previously "fastest" VW?

I'm just bitter that now I could possible aspire to buying a newish performance VW there isn't one. [:s]
    ie. I want a new Corrado VR6.

But the exclusivity makes up for that. And its not so much about outright power, but the peak torque is substantially lowered in the rpm range on the R32.
