how far do you think i could drop a standard height 1.3 on 15" rallye wheels?

    is 80mm a bit unrealistic?

    a bit unrealistic??

mine is lowered 40mm with 195/50 15's and it still rubs on full lock!

one of enigmatik33's looks like that and it's only 40mm
also Dave, his was lowered 40 but not as low as mine.

you could try 60mm or even 40mm/60mm but i think you're gonna have rubbin problems...

80mm should be no problem in my opinion, easy if you use g60 arches and cut away metal underneath. I know of some people that have lowered 100mm on 16x9s with absolutely no rubbin, so i dunno wot everyone is talking about [:s]

g60 arches do not give more clearence - you still need to cut away metal arch underneath...

I had my 1.3 lowered by 40mm on G60s, and it was no where near rubbing. :)

Just try it. The 1.3 has taller suspension than a GTI and depends on what methods you go about lowering it.

I reckon with lowering springs will allow you to drop it 40 / 60mm and then use 6.5 x 7 rims with 195/50/15 tyres.

    G60 arches *may* help.

I would have thought about 60mm or so would be okay. My 16v is lowered 40mm (I think) on 15inch BBS RA's and there's no rubbing. Bearing in mind the 16v is about 20mm lower than a standard Mk2 I would have thought 60mm would be alright? :)

Don't go too low though, sleeping policemen etc jump out and try to headbutt your sump! [:s]

g60 arches do not automatically give you more space....
you still need to cut away metal...

    Of Course. ;)

I can tell you 100% on a 1.3 using springs alone will drop 60mm on normal 15" rims.

    have fun

just lowering springs (especially 60mm lowering ones) will give a crappy ride, and wear the dampers out quickly... if you're gettting lowering springs, then get shortened dampers too.
