Good stuff, only thing extra I would do is source a plastic washer and cut a slot in it. that way you can tighten the nut to screen and the slot allows the wires through without them bing pinched by nut :)

    Thanks John,

I’ve just had 20 minutes of fault finding and blown a load of 10am fuses! Turns out the nut had already pinched the wires and caused a short. I’ve left the nut off now and will use double sided 3m tape for right hand side of spoiler. I’ll also silicone the hole in window to seal it.

All works fine now and works great! Just need to wash the car. 7ED3EE7E-E0AA-425A-A4CE-45F5C8F8C16E.jpeg 7ED3EE7E-E0AA-425A-A4CE-45F5C8F8C16E.jpeg 2E7D3C9F-10EA-417C-9D96-56127FA0C616.jpeg

If anyone is interested, I bought the oem spoiler from vw parts international for £80. I bought the Hella brake lamp brand new off eBay for £37 including wiring kit. The lamp is for a Senator Caravan. I had to dremel 2mm out of lamp hole for it to fit properly. Also had to find two washer clamps as spoiler screw holes were too big for the screws in the lamp.

it’s look original to me so I’m very happy.

    Thanks for everyone’s input.

    Paul

Just mind it don't chaff through, any idea what size thread is?
M6 too big from memory unfortunately as have some great cabinet nuts that are extended and could use a bit of metal to bridge the hole and still pull in.

Edit, missed previous posts, browser hadn't updated oops.

I must have tightened spoiler bolts too much and it’s put too much pressure on screen! I did it by hand too. Wife is always telling me I don’t know my own strength :(

I will go through insurance as it doesn’t mess up no claims. They use auto glass so hopefully they can sort it for me.

That’s what I immediately thought too haha. They’ve got none in stock so got to come from Europe. Hoping it’s not a long delay. Have to put sheet over car and lock away. Don’t have a garage so lock it in entry at back of house.

    That's bad luck.
Mate has a rear tailgate, he is near Doncaster which would be a little drive, but if you get really stuck may be an option.

    Thanks.

Just been reading reviews on Trust Pilot for Autoglass. Some good, some really poor. Dreading waiting weeks for them to turn up with wrong screen.

No offer of courtesy car from insurance either. I work shifts so it’s a pain in the bum for me.

I found a fella on eBay willing to ship me a tailgate with three hole glass from Stirling so I know there are options if the wait goes ridiculous.

    Cheers.

Autoglass were twice as dear for polo screen few weeks back, there was a site that compares the glaziers and they contacted me with prices.
Have you tried local glass specialists? Always had better deals from them, as usually did effect ncb on insurance.

I haven’t tried local specialist - yet. Give it a week and if no update I might go down that route. Thanks for the info.

Supposed to be getting fitted on Monday next week. Autoglass said due to be delivered to them on Friday this week so fingers crossed.

So, they let me down. Rang me today to say they can’t do it until next Monday because someone has been sent home! I complained because I’ve taken day off work as it was scheduled for today. They said if I can get to Autoglass centre 5 miles away, they can fit it today.

Drove down here and guess what, it’s a CL window!! When I initially booked it they were very dismissive in the call centre telling me they go off the chassis number so impossible to order wrong part. I was telling them about the holes and they said don’t worry, it will be correct glass.

He is now fitting a waterproof film until they can get correct glass (I’m not confident whatsoever now).
