Yep, but it won't be staying in the mk5. All going into a mk1

Strange you should mention this about the launch control.
A friend of a friend is doing this conversion and said exactly the same.
Personally, not having launch control isn't an issue.....however it'd be nice to have ASR and stability control....i'm not going to burn my bridges with the ABS and probably keep the wiring in place just in case!

I am that friend of a friend lol.

Long story short, ive got a 2011 s3/golf R engine in one of my mk1s, its wired in and running. (not on road yet) still on k04 but with uprated hpfp and stuff.

The other mk1 is in the process of going 4wd with dsg.

ive read a few build threads about dsg and messed around with settings on mk5s, a lot of the info is hear say (like the launch and abs)

I need to get the launch working as i want to use the 4wd mk1 as a drag car but road legal.

I know of 5 cars running dsg

    700hp 20vt mk1 drag car (standalone controller)
Ktm x bow tfsi (converted back to manual now due to issues)
    Tazv6 mk1 tfsi (oe management)
Astra vxr with vag dsg (standalone controller)
    corrado g60 turbo (standalone controller)

the standalone cars don't run abs neither does the xbow. launch controll does work on them but the dsg does need a lot of software tweeks to get it to run without the abs and other bits like steering angle sensor.

I'll be going the mk1 with dsg and cross them bridges when I come to them.

The first lot of parts ill be using will be the engine, box and can gateway. ( not using gateway on the mk1 that's running as no other module needs to talk with engine ecu)

Hi mate....i guessed it was you lol.
Seems you've done similar research to me.
Some trikes built in Holland (?) also run dsg but not sure what controller.

Company in usa make a standalone controller but its 750 bucks and whilst thats not a kings ransome, i would prefer to use what i got at hand.

I emailed the german corrado dsg guy via his website but got no reply.

I dont think adding abs to the mk2 would be impossible as there are sensor holes in the hubs already iirc for rallye variant.
Pickup rings are easy to add viavstock parts or adapted from sommat later.

    Check my thread for progress...

May pop in with the other 'friend' to have a nosey at your projects

Ps - the vauxhall i saw was a vx220 but the guy never finished it

The astra vxr is in Germany and running.

The vx220 might be my mates, it was never ment to be dsg at that stage, He's done two vx220 now with tfsi and 02m boxes. He's looking to put dsg into the next one tho..... with a ttrs engine lol.

Not seen the other dsg cars.

The dsg corrado guy didnt reply to me either lol.

The internet says you need to use the mk5 sensors and rings but I'm not sure on.

Might get away with different abs sensors but the wheel rings perhaps could be coded in the abs module if theres a way of adapting different number of pulses per revolution....

Tasv6 has done it......might poke him again on ed38....he's helpful and friendly
