Just followng a guy in a 53 plate Silver R32 and he was doing 25 in a 30, then 38 in a 40 and then 50 in a national speed limit.

Now I'm not saying rag it to with in an inch of it's life but seriously don't by the most powerful golf ever and drive like a slow c*nt! [:x]

Sorry if it was Rob.GTI in his new toy...

Id be happy with that, I usually get stuck behind people doing 25 on a national speed limit road [:x]

If you read what I said, I don't mean he should be on or even near the limit just not driving at a f*cking snails pace!

Not me - Mine isnt on a 53 plate ;)

However, I do stick to speed limits like 30, 40 and 50, but on the open road is a different matter :p

I have seen guys over 50 driving R32s at a snails pace and it does make me wonder why they bought it [8(]

According to the highway code, adriver is supposed to reach the speed limit as quickly and as safely as possible. So in theory it is a target... [:-B]

Thats utter rubbish - it is a MAXIMUM speed limit - it does not mean you should drive at that speed!!!

Whats wrong with a leisurly drive now and again??

Yeah i do - but i dont complain when people choose to drive their cars at a slower pace.

Our S3 doesnt really get thrashed at all, a nice 50/55 run, no accelerating hard.

    Whats the problem?

Iwas always taught that drivers are supposed to drive AT the speed limit whenever safe and convienient taking into consideration driving conditions and stopping distances

You are required to drive in a way which doesnt hold up other road users uneccesarily, AFAIK - so in theory you should drive on the speed limit unless either

<ul>[*]theres nobody else around, in which case you can go as as slow as you like, or[*]your vehicle cant safely get to the speed limit, eg milkfloat or caravan  [/list]

Exactly plus it did cross my mind he may have just got it with zero miles, but even still a. they don't need to be run in and b. running in doesn't mean slow speeds just gentle acceleration below 2.5/3k and top speeds of around 60mph...

Bottom line he was driving like an old man and wasting a fine car!

probably find that his speedo was reading under and yous is reading over..... most arent accurate.
you never know he might be a trackday nutter and just pootles along on the road to keep the fuel bill down.

one of mine is spot on according to the displays on the side of the roads (pure chance as its got 16v clocks, polo box and 8v wheels), but if I'm doing 30 most people seem to do 25 ish by comparison. The corrado is 1mhp slow at 30, later cars are better I guess.
