spark plug dti holder

    right guys i have borrowed a tool that holds the dti in the head to gain true dtc . im told it is vag only as i can't find 1 anywhere !

    where could i get 1 as its a pukka tool

    That’s new on me, never seen one but I’d be interested to see one. I use a magnetic block that holds the dti and an extension to reach down the plug hole

    SAme here, I put a solid bar down the hole to sit on the piston then use a dti ontop of that.
    I usually do it with the rocker cover off, also with the dti base removed and then screw the dti shaft somewhere on the head

    about 8" long and the dia of a spark plug with a thread on 1 end to screw into the plug hole and a 5mm hole threw the centre

    you tried the whistle version? or just the one with a pin through?

    you can uy them where you screw it in to the cylinder head in the spark plug hole whilst tuning the engine once the cylinder is on compression stroke the air is forced through the whistle and once the whistle stops thats you at TDC cheap as chips to buy just trying to remember the company that does em in uk

    similar to that one, the VW part is more solid, whichs allows the DTI screw in and the base of that screws in the spark plug thread

    FYI : it's used soley (at the moment) for checking the TDC on 1.6 FSI engines which are chain driven, with no other way of checking the crank timing!
