Whistle one is bolx for accurate setting. You need the dti to find true tdc. You'll have to go past tdc, then backwards past, find the point at which it stop either side, and somewhere in the middle is true tdc. There's really only a degree in it usually.
the kit your after is made by MATRA just google them then look for the part number you found. german ebay has a full kit but says its for diesel. will still do the job i reckon as it has a few different adaptors
http://www.midlock.com/2_EN_MidlockCatalog_Frameset.html might need to click the english link in bottom left corner of page to get the language. Just browse there catalogue the kit your looking for is in there. section B in the timing tools for VW section
expensive kit. you asked at your local vw dealer? ask for the tool and im sure they have to be able to sell it to you just dont know what they would charge. will do some investigating this week
I’ve ordered it, should be with me in the next couple of days if not tomorrow i’ll try it on one of the 20v’s
It comes with the internal pin which is spring loaded to push the pin into the bore, the pin will not drop in the cylinder as it’s held within the outer tube, my timing dti gauge fits in the end and was well within range for the travel on the 20v, same thread as the vehicles it’s advertised for
winner . so what do you think ? seen them before ? was not sure if you understood what i was chatting about at curby
Ive seen them before but never a VW dealer specific one, thats what I thought you were after, not a generic one. If Id thought a generic one would have done, Id have posted ages ago sorry
