Yeah it does. Laptops direct may have one. Thinking dates should be June as well. Will see if I can find one now
Thats all I can find for now. Other than American websites http://www.samsung.com/ca/consumer/office/mobile-computing/notebook/NP700Z5C-S01CA-spec Plus its an Nvidia model
what do you guys think of the ASUS n55sl? seems to meet spec for the money? or is there something i've missed? http://www.dabs.com/products/asus-n...g-blu-ray-15-6--w7hp-7WG6.html?q=n55sl&src=16
The spec seems to be in the ballpark, but it has 6GB RAM rather than 8 and a 750MB HD. I haven't seen the screen spec, but on the face of it that Lenovo mentioned is better value with more RAM.
ahh i see, is the 2gb graphics of interest? or is there not much difference between the 1gb n 2gb in real life? 8gb ram is upgrade-able for around 35/40 so i guess you're after a TB HDD i guess then? I too am looking to buy a high spec laptop over the summer, and need something that can kill CAD, photoshop (when im working with 100s of layers at a time) and some video editing etc
I'm just uncompromising. If there's 8GB out there, I'm having it to guard against obsolescence! Disk-wise, I view anything less than 750GB as showing signs of not trying hard enough, so the rest of the machine spec needs a proper frisk. 1TB seems to be the ballpark for a modern i7 machine. Saying all this, credit and thanks to all contributing on the thread. I'm just relaying back what I've learned in shops, but mainly what I was advised to look for in the first place on this thread.
Better res than the Lenovo, so that's good. I wouldn't worry about the HDD now, you can upgrade for peanuts when you run out of space. It's 5 times what you have now! You can upgrade the ram for 20: http://www.crucial.com/uk/store/mpartspecs.aspx?mtbpoid=1B1FEE64A5CA7304 Nice find.
@sparrow is it something worth getting for the money? i have a TB external anyway... and every so often i get a 40 off when spend over X amount with DABS.com by email. so waiting for a couple paydays and a voucher or is there something better for the money my current beast is 7 years old.. a inspiron 1501 80gb hdd amd turion dual core 1.6ghz 2gb ram (upgraded from 512mb within a week) ATI IGP Xpress 1150 graphics card with a whooping 256mb integrated. it is the craptop haha
It will be a crapload better than what you have now. I don't do CAD so can't comment there (check the minimum requirements from the maker of the software), but the photoshop or video editing should be fine. If you're going to be doing loads of that sort of thing, you might want to get a 17" screen, but that will make it bigger and heavier. The other option is a standalone monitor as this laptop has HDMI out.
Nice laptop bud, but the on-chip GT540m graphics are behind the leaders by a long way. Something like a model with the GTX470m or GTX570m is more acceptable.
so something like: NVIDIA GeForce GT 635M 2GB DDR3 VRAM wich is 2gb? as seen in the asus n55sl would also be behind the leaders i assume? i'm no good with laptop graphics, all i ever knew to look out for was the GB size on them
New generation yes, but similar spec to be honest. If your interested in 1080p then your gonna need something a little more. I will have a look around inabit for you bud, have to goto work now.
Hello matey Hehe yes, almost June. I havnt had chance to take a look for any new Lappys coming through yet Chris, but Im sure they are starting to make their appearance. Keep your eyes on that laptopsdirect website, well, you probably already are
Thanks, I'll be looking ! Meanwhile it occured to me I'll need to get an RS232 card into this machine (or use the old one to access the map on the track car if it won't run 64 bit). Do you know if by chance this sort of plug in card getting dropped on the latest laptops?
Pcmcia slot, never thought about that to be honest. Look for Pcmcia slot or Cardbus slot. Its something I dont think will be dropped yet, but needs looking into on the machine Specs. Another alternative if your new laptop doesnt have one. Wont look as good but should still work the same Chris. http://www.play.com/PC/PCs/4-/21859...tml?_$ja=tsid:11518|cat:21859235|prd:21859235
Ah, now that's a thought if a machine will talk to the ECU through one of those. USBs aren't going to disappear yet!
i bought my video editing system from SCAN. It isnt a laptop but they do supply video editing laptops. have a look here .... http://3xs.scan.co.uk/Category.asp?SystemMasterCategoryID=14
