my details: 22 years old no NCB no claims, accidents or convictions completely standard 1992 mk2 GTI Brentacre: "best we could do would be around 900 - 1000 TPFT..." Adrian Flux: "900 TPFT, we can't offer fully comp insurance but it's an old car anyway" at this point i just hung up... Greenlight: "Nah, we can't give you a quote on that but we recommend Direct Choice" Direct Choice: "best price has come back as 3700 fc" so onto some normal companies... Admiral: 580 fully comp for 10 months or 690 fc for 12 months. Edited by: darrynK
be very wary of that 10 month bonus accelerator scheme, a lot of other companies wont accept it after you've got an extra years ncb come renewal time, so then you either stay with them and pay them whatever (absurd) figure they pluck from thin air or just lose your NCB and move somewhere else
on last car (in gf's name) we were with diamond on 10 month policy - adrian flux accepted it no probs have taken 10 months but am gonna change to 12- will call them tomoro. looks like abf and fk konigs may have to wait a year to be fitted [:^(]
Lindsay's been insured with Diamond (Admiral's sister company) for three years. Their quotes have always been half what the next lowest were. They also do accept 'basic' mods - suspension, alloys etc. Admiral are even willing to give me a 40% discount as I've been a named driver so long. Can't recommend them highly enough, although I have no experience when it comes to making claims!
Adrian Flux were really good for me, 733 for 23rd yr old, MK2 16V, 1yrs ncd and theft claim! oh, and I live in Glasgow!
last car was modded on diamond (underwritten by admiral)policy- it had alloys, suspension, exhaust, rear disc conversion etc. no probs with them.
im with elephant(also admiral) and they were fine about my exhaust on the beemer. also only paying about 600 squid.
No, No, No mate! I've just changed (last Thursday) to Admiral. I'm 20, 0 ncb, no convictions. 1100 odd Full Comp. That's with my Konigsports declared (even my Wheels are declared, good god I'm an honest kinda chap!). It honestly only added about 20 to the Policy. As you say, Flux and HIC were useless until I was: a) 39 yrs old, b) Had infinite no claims or... c) Could limit my mileage to 5000 per year or something 'classically' stupid. This is just not possible in Devon! Any way, very impressed. Their customer service is pretty good too. Fordham
And for christ sake get it agreed value, even more vital if you put any parts on it. Insurance companies rate old cars so little you will get feck all for it. No danger i'm ever goin no agreed value again, just not worth it.
Btw Darryn, if you should venture to ask them about the ABF, tell me weather they laugh in your face or not. I want to eventually (when insurance will allow) do this conversion. Fordham
found the same darryn, so called specialists just taking the mick with prices and thats with 4 yrs no claims, ok my history is a little chequered but still was way over the odds. so i stuck with liverpool victoria for another year.
Admiral are best for me too, 202 fully comp with 7 yrs NCB on a 1997 standard 8 valve GTI. (Admiral were also lowest for my wife's Merc A-Class).
